Update

I'm still working on the next chapter. I need to balance the lore drops to the effort Riley put in. I have some fun stuff planned. I might need some extra time. I appreciate your patience.

I know that we lose some of the mystery when you learn who the secretive helpers are behind the scenes. I just hope that the revelation is worth that loss. Things can't stay unknown forever and I was never going to just keep the mystery alive to string you along indefinitely. I believe this will be worth it when you see what I am doing in coming books. I hope you will stay along for the ride!

Fun fact: The Game at Carousel is a spinoff of a book I wrote many years ago featuring the Sweepstakes. A trip to Carousel was a ticket you could win in the Sweepstakes (not that you would ever want to use it lol). That's where it started. That original book, whose working title was The Sightseer's Sweepstakes, never saw light of day so it is really fun that I finally get to reveal a bit about it. I can't believe Carousel lasted long enough for the Sweepstakes to come up. Nearly two years ago, I was worried that people wouldn't want to read even one book of it, let alone five.

I think it is also worth noting that we as readers (and Riley) are learning these things from potentially unreliable sources. The best lies are surrounded by the truth, and who knows what hidden agendas lurk behind whatever information is “given”. Information seems to be the most potent power our mysterious Narrator wields at the moment, so I wouldn’t expect it to be a complete show and tell. And that doesn’t even address the fact that they likely only have a limited understanding of some of these things themselves Even the friendliest figure in Carousel has to protect their interests Looking forward to the peek behind the curtain, but the end of one mystery often opens the door to a hundred more…so I’m not concerned about running out of intrigue unless you are :p

You're doing a superb job of making each new revelation feel like a layer of onion that just uncovers deeper mysteries. It's awesome stuff, and I am absolutely not going anywhere!

Tim Dedopulos

That’s the perfect happy medium I feel. It has been so rewarding to see the characters begin to transition towards a more active approach (running new stories for food, rescues, etc) to Carousel rather than remain purely reactionary. Very excited to see how a better understanding some of the mechanics of this place gives rise to new goals/methods! Can’t wait to see what you’re cooking up!

If there is ever an option to buy a hardcover set (special edition anyone) through a platform that isn't Amazon I will be all over that like jam on toast

George the Top Hat Viking

While it might not be a complete mystery, the intrigue is definitely still there for me. The best mysteries always have a good conclusion otherwise we would just be stuck with paranormal conjecture.

Bro I have bought every book. I listen to them when I sleep or when I drive or just doing random stuff. Genuinely one of my favorite series I have ever read. I'm just happy I get to be here for the whole story

This. Definitely curious about the Sweepstakes.

Mirron

If you ever wanted to dropped The Sightseer's Sweepstakes, I'd be interested to read what the other prizes were if one was a first class trip to DisneyWor- I mean Carousel.

Now that you have revealed the grand world, can we be satisfied with only ten books? 🥹😱😭😂

The idea of Riley getting an actual rundown on game mechanics and lore from an actual game master fills me with joy. It may be time for our intrepid guide to actually know the way.

Justin Miller

Or making each mystery intertwined into a huge mess that never gets answered or resolved...

Chronische

You are a fantastic author. So glad u chose this path.

Anthony Goh

I'm glad we are here to support you as you write this! The series is really good

EDMANGO

My opinion is that mysteries should be a chain. You add new mysteries while old mysteries are being answered. I've watched a few series that, sadly, take the mystery-heap approach: Just keep throwing new mysteries on the pile until the entire thing collapses.

Chaded

There will still be mysteries left. I won't reveal everything. I will reveal enough so that Riley and the other players can make plans and have agency.

Lost Rambler

I hope some mysteries remain mysteries. The Leftovers is one of my favorite shows, and the smartest thing it did was to never explain the main mystery.

Damian Karis

DONT WORRY AUTHOR!! I love revelations like these and I just KNOW you have more cooking up!! Hehe!

Kraz

A mystery is only an actual mystery if there's revelations you just have to leave a couple questions still unanswered and ask a few more that our MCs haven't even had the knowledge to consider before.
