"That's not how this is supposed to go..." Film buffs in movies often find things not playing out as expected. The killer breaks an unspoken rule to show this isn't like those OTHER slashers, or it's a case of Wrong Genre Saavy. A trope to let the user know if something is off-script (under certain conditions) - or maybe just reveal elements belonging to another story. Probably too revealing if it's anything off-script, but it would be appropriate given the villain trying to jump the rails and bringing in a lot of external ghosts.

Or an exploration trope as Carousel trying to force him to participate more. Cassie could get a trope related to ghosts either to communicate with them or become one after death. Antoine could get something like back in the game that allows him to buff the party if he can be rescued from certain death.
