Chapter 1 Romance Dawn

"Sooo you want to change their fate do you?"

"Yes."

"That is possible but it will be dangerous."

"That won't stop us."

"It might change you."

"I'm fine with that."

"Very well."

(East Blue, Sea Near the Goa Kingdom)

On a cruise ship traveling through the sea, two sailors heard an odd noise hitting the ship, "Hey do you hear that?"

"Look down there’s a barrel." said One sailor while the other got the hook and rope, it took a few tries but the two were able to get the barrel to catch onto the hook, "Got it, now lift."

"Whoa this thing is heavy," as they pulled it up, "Hey what do you think is in it?"

"Booze I hope." said his friend as they lifted the barrel over the railing and sat it up, "Hey you ready to crack it open, well are ya," he looked and saw his friends face fear stricken.

"PIRATES!" yelled the sailor as they saw in the distance a pirate ship.

The Pirate Ship was pink and it's jolly roger skull was faced sideways with a heart in the middle showing that the ship belonged to the Alvida Pirates. Their captain Alvida was on the deck of her ship as it began to chase the cruise ship, laughing and stroking her ego, "Coby!"

"Yes Lady Alvida!" responded a scared young boy named Coby, he was small and had pink hair with glasses on his face.

"Tell me who is the most beautiful woman on the sea?" asked Alvida.

"That's you of course, Lady Alvida Ma'am," he lied, he and the rest of the crew were too afraid to tell the truth as Lady Alvida may have been fat as a whale but she could swing her mace hard enough to break someone's skull with ease.

The fat woman laughed, "That's right." she then swung her giant mace around pointing it at the cruise ship, "Alright boys, it's been away since we've gotten a good hall, so I want this ship ripped clean of all it's goods, ya hear me!"

"YEAH!!!" roared the pirates as they began firing cannon balls at the cruise ship hitting it's mast and rudder leaving it dead in the water, it didn't take long for the pirates to swing over and board the civilian vessel.

Alvida smiled as she saw her men begin to ransack the place, though it quickly faded when she saw one of her men getting cold feet, "COBY! What are you doing? Disobeying an order?"

The boy quickly shook his head. "What no ma'am, I was just I was just...just."

"You were just getting your ass over there!" she yelled before kicking him over to the other ship where he landed face first on the deck, "Now get moving!"

Coby stood up straight, "Yes ma'am." before quickly running off to find something to bring back to the ship. "I got to find something quick or else Lady Alvida will hit me with her mace." as Coby went down below deck to find something to bring back, as he looked in the rooms he noticed a large barrel, "This barrel pretty large it should be worth something." as he began to quickly roll the barrel into the hall towards the stairs.

As he was about to make it to the stair three of his crewmates came down, "Hey there's our favorite cabin boy, what cha got there?"

"Oh I'm just getting this barrel of booze for lady Alvida." Cody said Sheepishly.

"Oh great I was getting thirsty." said one of the pirates as he stood the barrel up.

"What, you can't do that, Alvida will kill you!" yelled Coby.

"She won't know if no tells her," said another pirate before narrowing his eyes at Coby, "You ain't going to tell her, are you shrimp?"

"What no, never, I wouldn't." he said quickly caving into the threat.

"Alright boys stand back," as the third pirate raised his fist into the air, "I'm going to crack this thing open the old fashion way."

Suddenly the top of the barrel burst open and a fist hit the pirate, "I SLEPT GREAAATTT!!!" yelled a teenager wearing a straw hat.

"WHAAAATTTT!!!" yelled Coby and the other two pirates.

Coby fell on his rear as he looked up at the person, "Who are you?"

"Oh, I'm Luffy," said the boy with the Straw hat noticed the man on the floor, "Huh that's a funny place to sleep, your friend will catch a cold."

"YOU'RE THE ONE THAT PUT HIM THERE!" the two other pirates yelled before pointing their blades at Luffy, "We're pirates you understand."

Luffy turned to Coby, "Hey you got any food?"

Coby looked at Luffy wide eyed before his eyes darted back and forth from the pirates to Luffy, "Wha...What are you doing?"

Luffy blinked, "Oh yeah," as he reached a hand into his shirt.

"DON'T IGNORE US!" yelled the two pirates as they jumped into the air bringing their blades down on Luffy. Luffy glanced at them while Coby put his face down, he didn't want to watch Luffy.

Coby expected the sounds of a body hitting the ground, but instead he heard the sound of metal breaking and a weird whooshing sound. Coby slowly looked up and saw the two pirates staring at their broken blades, "Wha..how?" asked Coby.

The two pirates then screamed as they grabbed their friend and ran off. "GIANT!!!"

"Giant?" asked Coby confused before turning to look at Luffy but now Luffy wasn't the only one there as a giant figure loomed over him. "AAAHHH A GIANT!"

"LUFFY!" yelled the big man with long blue hair as he grabbed Luffy by the shirt, "What the hell man, do you have any idea how long we were stuck in there?"

Luffy gave a laugh, "Sorry I fell asleep." he said clearly not afraid.

"How the hell did you fall asleep in a barrel?" yelled the man.

"Hey," came a small voice. Coby looked at the leg of the giant man and saw a young girl that looked a bit younger than him with black hair wearing a white coat pulling on the big man's shirt. "I'm hungry, is there any food?"

"Oh right, I'm hungry too," said Luffy as the big man let go of him, Luffy then turned to Coby, "Hey is there any food around here?"

All three were looking at Coby. "Uh I think the food storage room was that way." as he pointed down the hallway.

"Alright let's go guys." said Luffy as he walked down the hallway and was followed by the girl and the giant man.

Coby took a moment as the events replayed in his head before he rushed after the trio, “WAIT!” he yelled as he grabbed Luffy and tried but failed as Luffy ignored him and kept following his nose to the food, “You have to listen to me, you have to run and hide quick, when those pirates get back, they’ll kill you!”

“I’m afraid you’re wasting your breath, kid.” said the giant man.

“But-” Coby was then cut off as Luffy found the food storage room.

“FOOD!” yelled Luffy as he looked around the room before he found the crate full of apples. “Hey I found some apples.”

“Ooh can I have one?” asked the girl.

“Here you go Lim.” as he tossed one to the girl, before looking at the giant man, “Hey Adio, you want one?”
“Sure,” said Adio as caught an apple and began eating it.

Cody looked at the trio surprised, “How are the three of you so relaxed, don’t you know this place is crawling with pirates.”

“It is?” asked Lim as she ate the apple.

“Yes it is!” yelled Coby as he pointed at Luffy, “He just knocked one of them out.”

Adio then laughed, “Should have expected you’d make it exciting right out of the gate.”

Luffy gave him a confused look, “I don’t remember knocking anyone out, but does that mean we’re on a pirate ship?”

Coby shook his head, “No we’re on the ship that the pirates are currently plundering.”

“Are you a pirate?” asked Lim.

“Huh…well not exactly…”Coby then went on to explain how he ended up working for pirates after he got on the wrong fishing boat and was too scared to run away and became a cabin boy for the Alvida pirates.

It caused Luffy to laugh, “Wow you sure are an idiot.”

“Why don’t you just leave?” asked Lim.

Coby quickly began shaking his head, “NO way, there’s now way I could do that, they would kill, just the thought of it is enough to make me puke.”

“Wow, you’re an idiot and a coward.” said Adio as he went for another apple.

Luffy kept laughing, “I don’t like cowards like you.”

Coby hung his head, “Yeah I can’t blame you.” He then lifted his head as he remembered something, “Hey wait a minute, what were you doing in that barrel?”

“Oh our boat got caught in that big whirlpool.” explained Luffy earning a slight glare from Adio.

“That wouldn’t have happened if you hadn’t fallen asleep at the helm.”

“You fell asleep too, Adio.” pointed out Luffy.

“That’s because you said you’d steer so I could take a nap.” shot back Adio causing Lim to laugh at the two.

“WAIT!” shouted Coby, getting the two arguing men’s attention, “You three got caught in that whirlpool, how in the world did you survive that, what were you even doing out there in the first place?”

Luffy smiled, “We just set out to sea to be pirates.”

“YOU GUYS ARE PIRATES!?”

“No, no,” waved off Adio, “He’s a pirate we’re just helping him out for a bit.”

“Can you really call yourself a pirate yet, Luffy?” asked Lim, “You don’t have a ship or a crew yet?”

“Hey I’m just starting out, I’ll find a ship and crew eventually.” countered Luffy.

“Wait, why are you a pirate?” asked Coby.

“So I can become king of the pirates.”

“WHAT?!!!” shouted Cobu as his jaw dropped, “There’s no way you can become king of the pirates, that would mean you would have to go to the Grand Line, the pirate grave yard and fight super strong pirates, there’s just no way you can do that, it’s impossible.” Luffy then cut him off as he hit Coby on the head causing a bruise to swell up on his head, “Owwww, why’d you hit me?”

“I felt like it.” said Luffy, “Look I’m going to become king of the pirates, it’s my dream to do so, if I die, I die but at least I’ll die trying to fulfill my dream.”

Coby looked at Luffy with amazement in his eyes, he then looked at saw that both Adio and Lim were also smiling, ‘They believe him and he believes in himself.’

“Hey kid, you can’t reach your dreams unless you actually stick your arm out to them.” said Adio.

Coby thought about it for a moment, “Yeah that makes sense.”

“Do you have a dream?” asked Lim.

“Uh yeah, I do.” Coby thought about his dream, the one he had for years even after he got caught by Alvida. “My dream has always been to become a Marine.”

“Then do it.” said Luffy before eating two apples, “You won’t know if you can unless you try?”

Coby looked at Luffy then over at Adio who gave him a smile and then at Lim who gave him a thumbs up. “You can do it.”

Coby then gave them a look of confidence, “Then I’ll do it, I’ll run away from these pirates, I’ll join the marines and the first pirate I’m going to catch is Alvida.”

Suddenly the roof crashed in, causing Coby to scream and Adio to quickly grab Lim and pull her behind him. “What was that Coby, who were you going to turn in?” asked Alvida as the dust cleared revealing her fat ugly features. “Well Coby?”

Coby then began to panic as he faced Iron Mace Alvida, “Well I uh…”

Luffy then pointed at Alvida, “Hey Coby, who’s the fat whale guy?”

Silence was the response given as Coby and Alvida’s crew gawked at Luffy, unable to speak as no one was ever able to insult Alvida like that.

Except for Luffy and his friends, “Actually Luffy, I think that’s a girl,” said Lim, “A really fat girl.'' The crew and stunned stares turned to her and Adio.

“Yeah it looks like a girl but I can understand the confusion,” said Adio, “She kind of reminds me of those fat seals from Warford.” Some of Alvida’s crew actually passed out as none of them have ever heard such insults to their captain except they weren’t done yet.

Luffy blinked for a second before his eyes almost popped out of his skull, “Wait, you mean that’s a lady?!”

“I think so,” said Adio before looking straight at Alvida, “Hey you are a woman right?”

The entire time the trio had failed to notice Avlida’s face that was pure red with several veins on her head that looked ready to burst, “You’re all dead, MEN WHO IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WOMAN TO HAVE EVER SAILED THE SEAS?” she shouted.

Her crew immediately stood up straight. “IT’S YOU LADY ALVIDA!”

“THAT’S RIGHT!” she yelled trying to calm and heal her severely bruised ego.

“Oh no I think she’s blind.” said Lim, injuring the ego again.

“Naw her crew is just full of cowards.” said Adio.

“Hey Coby,” Luffy got his attention. “Is everyone on her crew, idiots or what?”

Coby looked at Luffy and over at Alvida who was waiting for his response, “No… they’re all cowards, because ALIVDA IS THE UGLIEST WHALE IN THE SEA!!!” That was the last straw as Alvida swung her club at Coby, ‘Well I did it, I stood up for myself, now I’m going to die and it was worth it.’ as he braced for the club.

Luffy smiled, “Well done Coby.” as he grabbed Coby and jumped up through the hole and on to the deck of the ship.

“Hey, you’re not getting away from-”Alvida was cut off as Adio planted his foot on her face and used her as a step to jump up to the deck with Lim riding on his back.

“Less then a day out, and you’re already starting trouble.” said Adio as he landed next to Luffy.

Lim laughed as she held onto Adio’s back, “Did you expect anything less from Luffy.”

Luffy laughed at that as well, “Sorry about that Adio, hey you mind doing me a favor and watch Coby for me while I handle these guys.”

“Sure.” said Adio as he grabbed Coby and jumped back as both he and Luffy moved away as several pirates tried to jump them. “Make it quick though, yeah.”

Luffy smiled, “Sure thing.” as he kicked a pirate. “Hey dumb dumbs come and get me.” he yelled at the pirate crew causing a majority of the pirates to chase after Luffy.

Adio quickly pulled out his revolver and shot two pirates in the legs, “I suggest you idiots focus on him.” as he gestured towards Luffy.

“Aren’t you going to help him?” asked Coby.

“Don’t worry,” said Lim, “Luffy doesn’t need it.”

They all looked over at Luffy as he ran past the ship mast and grabbed it, though as he did he kept running and to everyone's surprise except for Adio and Lim, his arm began to stretch. All the pirates stopped as their brains tried to make sense of what they were looking at. Luffy then made it to the front of the ship, “Here I come.” as he was then flung back at the pirates, plowing through them, knocking several of them out or over board.

Coby’s jaw dropped as he looked at his new friend, “Luffy what are you?”

Luffy stood up and grabbed his cheek and stretched it out, “I’m a rubber man.”

“A rubber man?”

“So you ate a devil fruit.” said Alvida as she walked towards Luffy, “I’ve heard the rumors of devil fruit but I never really did believe in them, so I guess that means you’re not Pirate Hunter Zoro then?”

“No, I’m Luffy.” replied Luffy before looking over at Adio, “Who’s Zoro?”

Adio shrugged, “I think he’s some sort of local bounty hunter, I’m not sure.”

“So you guys aren’t bounty hunters?” asked Alvida.

“No, I’m a pirate.” replied Luffy.

“You’re a pirate,” she looked at Adio and Lim, but remembered what he said, “And your crew?”

“Don’t have one yet, I’m just starting, but I think I should have a crew of about…ten, yeah ten should do.”

“Luffy, I told you if you want to have a snowball's chance of surviving the grand line, you’re going to need more than just ten people.” Commented Adio.

“Yeah, yeah but I want quality over quantity you know.”

“So then that makes us enemies.” said Alvida as she raised her mace.

“Yep.” said Luffy not really worried.

“Then DIE!” yelled Alvida as she brought down her mace at Luffy who didn’t move, he smiled as he saw the mace in coming as he did he focused making his body solid, as the mace made contact with Luffy it shattered into a million pieces, “WHAT!”

“Sorry but that attack was too weak for me.”

“It looks like he figured it out.” commented Adio with a smile.

“My turn,” said Luffy as he threw his arm backwards, extending his arm further and further backwards, “Gum Gum Pistol!” as he quickly brought his arm back, hitting it right into Alvida’s gut, sending the fat woman flying onto the sky until she was just a twinkle in the horizon.

“Wow, nice punch Luffy,” said Lim.

“Well done, I see that your training is paying off,” said Adio.

“Thanks guys,” He then looked over at the remaining pirates of Alvida’s crew. “Hey get a boat ready, right now, Coby is joining the Marines.” he demanded.

“YES SIR!” yelled the Alvida pirates as they saluted Luffy but before that could happen a cannon ball hitting close enough to rock the boat got their attention. “OH SHIT THE MARINES!!!” yelled the pirates.

Luffy looked out in the distance and saw the three navy ships, “Oh hey look, they’re already here for yeah Coby, you can join right now.”

“What are you crazy, if they find me here, they’ll just arrest me with the rest of them.” countered Coby.

“He’s right, we need to get out of here now,” said Adio as Lim got off of his back, “Or they’ll arrest all of us, quick look for a dingy we can steal.”

“Why don’t we just hitch a ride with her,” they all looked at Lim who was looking over the railing.

Luffy looked over and saw a girl in a sailboat preparing to set sail, “That will work, come on.” as Luffy grabbed Coby and jumped down soon followed by Adio who grabbed Lim.

The girl looked up and saw four people land on her boat scaring her. “AAAAAHHHH.”

“Hi, I’m Luffy, thanks for giving us a ride.” greeted Luffy.

“What?” responded the girl confused.

Another cannon ball then landed very close to them. Adio quickly tossed an oar to Luffy and Coby, “We can do introductions later, now we row.” As he grabbed two oars and began rowing like a mad man, Luffy quickly joined in with his own oar and Coby tried his best to keep up with the two as they quickly rowed.

“What in the world,” yelled the girl as they were quickly rowing faster than the wind could have carried them, “Who are you guys?”

“I’m Lim,” as she sat next to the girl, “the big guy rowing is my pops, Adio. What’s your name?”

“Uh I’m Nami.” said the Girl as she relaxed a little, “We’re you guys on the cruise ship?”

“Not exactly.”

Adio huffed as he rowed, “You can blame Luffy for that one.”

Luffy laughed, “Oh come on Adio, I think this was an excellent way to start an adventure.”

“Yeah great way to start your pirate adventure.”

“Wait, you guys are pirates.” yelled Nami who was now on edge again.

“No, just Luffy.” explained Lim, “Me and Adio are adventurers and Coby is a Marine.”

Nami blinked as she looked at the group rowing specifically at the pink haired boy she thought was Coby, “Okay something here doesn’t add up.”

“I’m … huff ….  not a ….  huff….  Marine… huff…  yet.” huffed Coby as he kept rowing.

“That still doesn’t explain anything.”

“Just go with it.” said Lim with a smile.

Soon after several minutes of rowing the small boat was safely out of sight from the marines and in open water. “Looks like we’re in the clear,” said Adio as he looked around before breathing a sigh of relief, “Lim are you alright?”

“Don’t worry, I’m fine Adio.”

Adio smiled and patted her on the head, “That’s good.”

Nami couldn’t help but relax a little while looking at the two, ‘I guess those two really are father and daughter,’ she then looked at the other two, ‘The guy in the straw hat is supposed to be a pirate, seriously?’ she then looked at Coby, “And what exactly is your story, are you a pirate as well?”

“No he’s just an idiot.” said Lim, causing her words to stab Coby.

“Hey don’t look too down Coby,” said Adio, “You stood up for yourself, you ain’t no coward anymore.”

“I suppose you're right.” said Coby as he scratched the back of his head. “Now I can actually join the marines.”

“So you actually want to join the marines?” asked Nami who was still a bit confused about this crazy group.

Coby nodded, “Yep it’s my dream.”

She then looked over at Luffy, “So then you’re the only pirate here.”

“Yep,” Luffy admitted instantly, “I asked Adio and Lim if they wanted to be apart of my crew but Adio said no.”

“Wait, you're not a part of Luffy’s crew?” asked Coby. “I thought you were since you guys were with him.”

“Adio said no,” Lim pouted.

Adio sighed, “Lim you’re twelve years old, it would be too dangerous,” as he patted her head, “You see Luffy helped us out not too long ago and he’s a great guy so we agreed to help him out a bit since we're both heading the same direction. We’ll help him out until he gets a proper crew and ship or when we reach Loguetown, whichever comes first.”

“Loguetown?” Nami then quickly put things together, “That’s the closest town to the entrance of the Grandline,” She then looked back at Luffy, “That means you’re heading to the grandline.”

“Yep, when I get a crew and a ship I’ll be heading out to the grandline, I’m going to be King of the Pirates.” said Luffy.

Nami looked at him as if he was crazy, “You’re nuts.” she then turned to Adio, “Sir, I would highly recommend getting your daughter as far away as possible from crazy like this.”

Adio laughed, “Kind of hard when we’re all stuck on this boat together.”

“Who knows you might grow to like Luffy’s crazy,” said Lim.

“I seriously doubt it.” said Nami.

“Hey, do any of you guys know where the nearest Marine Base is?” asked Luffy.

“How should we know? We’re not from this sea.” stated Adio.

“You, a pirate, actually want to head to a marine base.” stated Nami who was now firmly believing that the man in front of her wasn’t a pirate and just crazy. “The closest marine base is in Shells Town, it’s actually the closest island to us.”

“Cool,” said Luffy as he was getting excited. “I wonder if they know where I can find that Zoro guy.”

His words caused the boat to become silent, “WHAT!” yelled Coby, “Why do you want to find Zoro, he’s a bounty hunter who is known as the Pirate Hunter.”

“Easy, I’m going to ask him to join my crew.”

Both Coby and Nami were shocked silent by Luffy’s words while Adio laughed and Lim was confused, “A Pirate Hunter as your first mate.”

“That sounds just like you, Luffy, ha ha ha.” Laughed Adio.

Nami could feel a headache coming, “From the rumors I heard he’s being held prisoner at Shells Town, apparently he caused some trouble for the Marines and is being held prisoner for a month according to the rumors.”

“Wow that’s great,” cheered Luffy, “We can get Coby to join the Marines and Zoro to join my crew.”

“I can join the Marines.” as Coby finally felt his dream was about to come true.

“You guys are nuts.” stated Nami.

“Yeah but it’s quite entertaining,” said Adio.

“Never a boring day with Luffy around,” said Lim. “I wonder what this Zoro guy is like.”

At the Marine Base in ShellTown, in the courtyard was a single man tied to a post, “Hurry up, I need some booze.”

A/N: I Beat One Piece Odyssey not too long ago and couldn't get this idea out of my head, it's such a great game I recommend it.
