Hello again. This week we start our picture selection with the Lexus LS400 (or is it a Toyota Celsior?) from Street Fighter 2. Then we have the new and very Alphard-y Lexus LM, the amphibious-looking MX-5 mk3 and the much nicer mk4 in that excellent Soul Red paint. That’s followed by Jonny’s Beetle with its newly adjusted headlights, a spy shot of Enya’s Maybach, and a listener’s mate’s excellent but weirdly undented mk1 Twingo. Finally, an example of what a Mitsubishi Cordia GPT might look like (also, neatly, featuring an illustration of wing mirrors), the Kia EV9, the Jeep Avenger and the amazing Spowart Avenue.

When growing up, our ice cream man in the village used to be Willie Spowart. And he drove a Transit....

Turns out there is a whole site dedicated to wwwwwheelbasery. http://www.body-swaps.com/

Brendan McAleer

I’ve spent quite some time smashing up that Lexus with a pipe

TD

There is a second Spowart. In Dunfermline there is a Spowart Drive, I can feel a road trip coming on

I was listening to the podcast this afternoon, whilst browsing the Interweb and by coincidence saw that the Corrs are going out on a Britain and Ireland tour in late 2024. I wonder if Jonny will be buying tickets! lol

Matthew Bartlett

Mansell must buy a pub. Because then it can, of course, be called ….. The Red Lion 💅🏻

Mk3 mx5 = Axolotl. https://visitseaquest.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/SeaQuests-Guide-to-Axolotls-img.webp

Zoona

I’m glad someone pointed out that Jim Corr is a loon. However I’m still excited to see the LS be restored on his behalf

Heartily agree about Mazda's Soul Red being the best looking red around. I had a 3 finished in it, and it looked fab. HOWEVER, it's the softest, most easily marked / scratched paint I've ever come across. And the dealers know it too. When I complained to our local dealer at the time he said "oh aye, it's soft as week-old brie". So there's that.

James Cooper

I rather like this.. IRISH POP duo Jedward became embroiled in a bizarre spat with The Corrs guitarist Jim Corr after discovering he attended the anti-mask protests held in Dublin this weekend. In an increasingly heated Twitter row, the X Factor stars even told Corr “your sisters never needed you”

Anthony Daniels

I've just discovered that the Lexus LM is also available here in Denmark. The price of the top of the range? 2,654,500 DKK to you Sir (around £314,000). Blimey.

Chris Squirrel

Jim Corr actually posted on Instagram about his Dad's Lexus: "Myself and dad having an interest in cars, had discussed and admired how Lexus took the luxury car market by storm. It was one our greatest pleasures to eventually be able to buy him one." https://www.instagram.com/jimcorrofficial/p/CaPVYNCtja5/

Also, there used to be a newsagent called Spowarts in Grangemouth

There’s no ‘th’ in Llanelli. The second set of L’s sound the same as the first. Former Llanelli resident.

That Lexus is absolutely gopping. What’s wrong with the Lexus design department these days?

Scott

Trying to organise a test drive of an EV9 this week just fro S&Gs. Rediculously big and expensive but let us see what a morning with one is like.

Robin White

That Vauxhall, despite the alleged rock band association, is surely bereaved spec. I’m betting most of its 54K miles were done at a respectfully somnolent pace to and from funerals.

Chris Rayner

Up Tyrone! I've close family in that area. And if we're talking Honda Dealers, my godfather's family ran the dealership Joey Dunlop's bikes came into.

Brendan McAleer

I never really got the appeal of the aquatic MX-5 Mk3 either, until I did and bought one. Mine's one of the many special editions, the Kuro, with the folding metal top. Fingers crossed it's totally watertight, but it lives in a garage anyway.

Matt Tester

I think Lexus need to start proof reading their website.. the typo's are horrendous!

Adam

As a past owner of five MX-5s I’m looking forward to this episode. Question: what ever happened with the planned Glasgow live show? Keen to attend if it happens.

Grant Gibson

The most limited edition MX-5 is the absolute base model early Mk3 - there used to be one by me. They were stripped of much but oddly appealing - vinyl not mohair soft top but more outstandingly, steel wheels. Oddly appealing and discontinued quickly. All other mx5 limited editions proliferate in comparison

Anthony Daniels

The Corrs dads cousin lives in my town (cookstown) Northern Ireland, he has a merc as a daily driver and a Lexus sc in silver that he uses in summer.. Lexus and merc clearly in the corrs blood!
