In pics this week we start with the lovely Bjentjly Flying Spur enjoyed by Jonny over Christmas. Then we have the amazing, Conti-like evolution of Gary Barlow, the Continental GT generations, two classic examples of the badge bar, some of the Jeep Gladiator model range (including the Rubicon Fart), and the late Queen Elizabeth II enjoying the bespoke bonnet mascot on her L322 Range Rover. Now some linkery…

The Bentley lady Jonny’s referring to in case you were baffled as to what he was on about

I think that Dutton make a couple of amphibious cars and imagination they don't have many of the Amphicars shortcomings and probably cost a bit less than even a Ugandan Amphicar. On the other side of things, as I don't know how or if I can attach pictures here but I'm sure you'll enjoy a gear stick enhancement that was in a taxi I took on Saturday and other stuff.

Just listening through again (sad, I know) and I think the silver bonnet ornaments are a bit different to the plastic chrome and black 'Limited Edition' badge that the previous owner put on the dashboard of my Freelander. I've kept it though because it makes me chuckle.

Matt Tester

Jonny - you must get Greg a 1939 Packard Swan bonnet ornament for his next £1,500 Passat. It may well block his view of the road.

More Tic Tac info: in the USA, the box is emblazoned with "sugar free!", becuase - even though they're basically pure sugar with some flavourings - individual Tic Tacs are so small that they come under the sugar weight required to advertise them as "sugar free".

Grim...

Seems that Packards had actual swans but they are wings up rather than the full flying Concorde type.

Matt Lindley

Richard, you won’t regret selling ‘the range’. Mine went in July and I’m in an i3 now I am not missing the constant Pavlovs dog response to a bong in my car that made me sweat instantly.

Anyone else get a wierd German/Dutch advert at the end of the pod on Spotify?

Andrew Armstrong

I really hope Richard’s Range Rover advert contains “FIND ANOTHER!” In a passive aggressive tone 😂

Dean Hempshall

That guitar over the merch song was absolutely banging.

Ian Morris

Not quite a swan, but Hispano-Suizas of old had flying stork bonnet ornaments.

The Smith & Sniff approved version of that weird asmr Bentley thing https://www.youtube.com/shorts/_d9Fy_PGmu0?feature=share

https://x.com/rmajor86/status/1744306487743168786 Please be seeing this wonderful and decorative “an ‘orse” on the bonnet of a BMW X3 in the craft town of Farnham in lovely, leafy Surrey

Richard Major

Does Bentley lady have a little microphone or is she whispering into the key fob?

Duncan Dyer

No offence to her late majesty but don’t you think those hood ornaments are a bit too far back? Looks like it’s right in the centre of the bonnet!

Calum Gillies

I have always loved a flying swan. Back in the day when I used Facebook I pretentiously had a cover picture of a brace of them flying. Not exactly sure what a was pretending to be.. maybe I was using the cover picture as my large saloon bonnet.

David Nickolls

What happened to the floor mat in that Bentley?

Karl Moltrecht

The last name Ferrari comes from the Italian ferraro, meaning blacksmith. Let's look up what the Italian word for Sniff is and see what Britain's top car (ish) podcast is called in Rome. Ferrari & Annusare. That's not gone particularly well.

LL Cool J used to floss the Rolls Royce.

So... tickling a Bentley is a thing?
