Listening to this has made me wonder why safari parks don't just buy a fleet of £1000 MPVs off Facebook Marketplace for visitors to use - say 25 Xsara Picassos? More tourists would go because their car isn't at risk of damage from monkeys, the parks could charge more for people using them and after a while there wouldn't really be anything for the monkeys to take. It's a win win!

2023-08-27 18:26:08 +0000 UTCOn the Brera with the confederate flag thing - it’s not that uncommon here in the South of Italy. I saw a 90s Cinquecento with a full roof confederate flag not that long ago. And a load of flags hanging in the streets in a town in Sicily just last week, with “the south will rise again” in Italian printed on them. It’s just a southern Italian thing. Doubt they know or care about the… controversy about it.

2023-08-22 12:21:21 +0000 UTCYears ago, you'd see loads of cars with " I've seen the Lions at Longleat " stickers [https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/f/fc/Longleat_admission_car_sticker.jpg/1024px-Longleat_admission_car_sticker.jpg]. I reckon we need some parody merch with "We've seen the Landy's at Longleat" The safari opened in 1966 and for many years the 7th Marquis of Bath oversaw it. To describe him as flamboyant would be an understatement and he had quite a hippy outlook. I could imagine he'd have filled the park with crusties in their converted Bedford coaches. The automotive safari would be great too, I was near Metz at the weekend and France is very much still a safari for unremarkable cars, the pinnacle of which was a Citroen AX 4x4!!!

2023-08-22 07:56:35 +0000 UTCSusan Boyle drives a BMW X3M. I thought you may enjoy this random knowledge. Feels quite an aggressive choice if I’m honest. I’d have her down as a long term Daihatsu Terios owner. Quite possibly sporting a rear wheel cover with some airbrushed howling wolves and an oversized moon in the background.

2023-08-21 18:08:30 +0000 UTCToasted sesame oil on the plastics reminded me, a couple of years back my Dad used to swear by putting peanut oil on the plastics. All well and good, made a beautiful shine, but the neighbourhood dogs also loved it. He was constantly catching them licking the wheel arch extensions on my sisters Mini. He’s stopped using it now.

2023-08-21 06:32:48 +0000 UTCI was at Longleat last year and was also surprised to see not just mk1 Freelanders but also the odd 3 door version which are getting a bit thin on the deck.

2023-08-20 21:44:21 +0000 UTCSad to hear of the passing of Harris Mann, he was a lecturer at my university in Birmingham circa 2001 when I studied design. He was a really nice guy.

2023-08-20 19:59:33 +0000 UTCThe thing with the Gower, is it’s basically Swansea, and most people who go to the beach resorts in Swansea go to the Mumbles which is normally rammed constantly.

2023-08-20 18:18:57 +0000 UTCOver 20 years ago, the VW Lopo GTi was a seriously quick small car at the time. I had one whip past me in my Rover 216 GTi !!

2023-08-20 17:55:38 +0000 UTCI saw a blue Mk4 Golf yesterday morning towing a little double axle trailer, it pulled into a layby near my town as I was heading to a steam rally. Driver of said Golf was clearly lost, I thought it might be brother Greg planning to do it all day at the same show, but I never saw that car again.
