In pics, we start with the incredible airbrushed Citroen C6 spotted by Richard at a local car show. Then we have Mika Hakkinen’s excellent hair, the busy Peugeot 408, the moulded BMW M2 and Ken from Blue in some incredible ’00s spec trousers. Now, some links…

Hey bay area friend! I second this!

Matthew Carpenter

BMW designers copying the 1970 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am with the front of the M2. Badly.

Trevor Paul

Did you hear the guy who was providing the commentary on the show arena? Lots of "lovely lovely motor cars" and really blatent Xenophobia towards my mk1 Twingo of which I heard "that's just typical of the French".

John Hammond

Going through some of the older pods.. could the airbrushed C6 be the old French ambassador to Ireland C6 talked about in pod 116?

Stephen Voss

A good friend of mine has a Honda Beat in Obligatory Yellow. It's an absolute hoot to drive and such a cheerful car. I can fit in it and I'm 6 foot and not exactly slight of build. Wasn't graceful getting in and out, mind. Here it is with my Rover 216... https://www.instagram.com/p/CiOHHEmI-YZ/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

I did admire the static engine, but only from afar lest I got splattered with goose fat. Richard

Your Haki-facts are wrong! He retired after the 2001 season, Wikipedia in lying shocker!

Vincent Grey

+1 for a NYC podcast. Florida based, but will fire up the All Days and Onions tiller steer steam engine 👍🏻

I am in Philadelphia (about 1.5hrs from NYC) and would absolutely come to a New York OTLOT if put on, as would a couple friends of mine from elsewhere in the U.S. Would love to see an American OTLOT happen!

Mateo Galguera

It was going all weekend long, that's all I can say.

John Hammond

Jonny has a solo Youtube channel. It's called the Defecate Blockade Show, in which he presents an interesting and informational programme while keeping a straight face as a restless King Tut stirs within his sarcophagus. If that's not to your tastes... By the way, an actual potential Late Brake show might be with Honda UK's heritage fleet, which includes a Sir Stirling Moss owned mid-engined Honda: an Acty micro-van. I'm sure you could get the keys to it.

Brendan McAleer

I'm totally with you Jonny on the BMW M2 et al. They are so ugly their very existence offends me. As one of my friends says, it's visual pollution.

Kristof Kiraly

Brilliant, just watched this

Anthony Daniels

Nyc please. Or sweet sweet leafy New Jersey where I live. But I could cope with nyc. I also have no friends. But I think that may be a common theme with your listenership.

Zoona

Or more selfishly, the San Francisco / Monterey Bay Area in August for all our various car gatherings? I can't promise much other than very solid taqueria recommendations in the area, and venue ideas.

Jacob Meltzer

His Finnish replacement had come and gone at McLaren by 2008!

Jacob Meltzer

Please please please come to NYC! I don’t have 100 friends to bring, but I’ll arrive in a Ford Traaaaaanssitt!

The talk of Stirling Moss as a landlord reminded me there’s a great 70s era clip of him giving a tour of his house. He had the most amazing amount of technology installed in his home for the time. Here it is from the BBC archives: https://twitter.com/bbcarchive/status/1345346604966952961?s=46&t=IlzGHy_w-mwgE1Rpa4BMpA

Totally understand why the Karaoke had the "Mr Elton John" bit in it. I think that live version of the song was on like NOW 23 which I had on CD and when you hear it over and over it's just part of the song. What a great performance from George though. Wow.

Owain Kelly

Stirling Moss was a Twizzy guy! https://youtu.be/YxJc-_xoEzs

Anthony Daniels

Was it a mucky stationary engine or do they only do that when in groups?

Matt Tester

Surprised no one has said it yet but Mika retired in 2001, not 2008. Famously he said he was going to take a sabbatical - one that is still going

Jordan Mulach

I saw the Citroen at the Baff / Barth festival of motoring, more importantly Richard did you admire the solitary stationary engine on display?

John Hammond

😂😂

Chris Jarrett

I thought it was Peugeots that were supposed to have the Lion on the front?!

Adam

I've seen that C6! It was parked up at a show in Chepstow, not IN the show, just the car park. Sweet sweet lion

Simon Barrett

Apropos, we test drove the range topping 408 and whilst it looked beautiful on the outside the interior did not match up. Coupled with the bonkers finance cost, we passed. Will continue to admire them when I see them. OTSOT.
