Honestly, Rich moves to basically Bristol and now he's banging on about the 90s. Quelle surpise...

Full of Boutros

Maurice Barnes

Thankfully caught up with the podcast, did you know that it's ideal for my regular Cambridge to Milton Keynes run? Finishes within 1/2 mile of my destination. For that reason I'm going to join the campaign against the A428 improvements as I'll miss the end of the show if the journey time is shortened.

Maurice Barnes

I'm disappointed I was the only person to Tweet about it at the time!

Nick Davies

I'm with you on "When You're Gone" Richard, it's a cracking track. Mel C has one hell of a voice, much underrated.

Chris Squirrel

What really should have won Eurovision.... If it was sung by Khalid after inhaling 5kg of helium, a bag of coarse sand, and a box of loose staples. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvV3nn_de2k

Paul Smith

If anyone is interested, the story of the Ozzy MR2 at Eurovision is here: https://www.drive.com.au/caradvice/voyager-eurovision-car-toyota-mr2/

That is the first time i have ever heard DJ Khalid speak. For some reason I always pictured him getting out of a lowered corsa (with copious amounts of chicken wire on the front bumper) and speaking with a comedy brummy accent.

Zoona

I would also like to say that you both need to stop being so hard on DJ Khalid. He is the ideal presenter for your Despair Shop idea, where he would confidently agree to take on a repair, badly mangle things with an air wrench, then just hand over a Kia Picanto with his signature catchphrase, "ANOTHER ONE."

Brendan McAleer

One piece of Jimi trivia I have always liked is that he had two Corvette Stingrays, one blue, one silver - but never got his driver's license. Which didn't stop him crashing the blue one.

Brendan McAleer

Rich may not know, I don't recall seeing it in one of his books and they didn't being it up on the 100th episode. Seems like SNX 36 is at Gaydon now, I don't remember seeing it when I was there in 2019 but I'm overdue a visit. Didn't make it to show the other weekend. Should we start planning trivia for the 200th episode now? We have until some time in Feb 2024!

Matt Tester

DJ Sammy also known for applying his talents to Don Henley’s ‘The Boys of Summer’ in which he drives a rather nice 1957 Mercedes 190 SL with ponytail on full display in the accompanying music video. https://youtu.be/5abvDHvNzaI

Chris Wyman

My dad worked in Jo Lucas in the 60s and 70s. He told me about the development of the Range Rover, which followed on from the Road Rover; one of the mules for the Road Rover was SNX 36, which I remember seeing in Solihull circa 1959/60. He told me that the development name for the Range Rover was the Land Rover 100. I expect Richard knows this, but if not, a bit of something on the trivia side of things.

Chris Rayner

I definitely remember he was 101st Airborne, not sure I've heard that story but sounds familiar.

Kevin Perham

I only initially had a few episodes recorded on VHS because we didn't have the Discovery channel at the time, then I bought the DVD but it had been cut down a fair bit. Still great though.

Matt Tester

Thank you! I was trying to think who built an 100". I was so frustrated by that show back in the day here in Australia, They had it on paytv (Austar at the time Foxtel now) but never showed the last couple episodes. They did the same with his E-Type build too. They where really cool shows. Cheers

Stephen Voss

I read Jimi Hendrix said the most unusual thing that had ever happened to him - let’s pause to consider that - was jumping out of an aeroplane and being blown back in.

Jim Galbraith

100" is sometimes seen as the golden wheelbase for Land Rovers - short enough to have a better turning circle than a 109" or 110", long enough to cope with obstacles better than an 88" or 90" and depending on how the rear tub is modified it can have a better departure angle than either. Dunsfold have a 1978 prototype but the most recent notable 100" hybrid is the one Mark Evans built on A 4x4 is Born, almost 20 years ago. If (when) the body on my Discovery 1 is scrap I will consider doing the same thing.

Matt Tester

My thoughts exactly. Lame

Fergus McIver

Seems like poor planning at the shoot and they couldn't fit it all on the square cover without squashing it!

Matt Tester

Maybe the Shad was bonnet up because it had a crate of builders’ sand in the boot?

Ed Storer

I doubt anyone cares but the aspect ratio is all wrong on that Oasis album cover. Everything is out of shape. If you resize it to 4:3, it looks just right https://photos.app.goo.gl/GFsL1iza1UvwAM6K7

Fergus McIver

Haha, I called out the Wollarding to my wife as we watched. Luckily I’ve primed her on what Wollarding is.

TD

I think I may be tainted by previous podcasts, but I immediately heard "Birmingham Khakis", assuming instantly that it was a slightly shady army surplus store selling pre-soiled, faded-green outdoor garments and bulk boxes of airgun pellets....

Gregg May

Lol, Eurovision song banned in the US (at least for me!) What are y'all hiding over there?

Jacob Meltzer

Te repair shop bit was inspired :D

Nigel Hancock

It's usually Jonny who has trouser related malfunctions!!
