Hello again lovely Patrons. This week we start our pictures with that Hyundai promo CD owned by listener Tom, then listener James’s weird-spec Daihatsu Charade (including, in the last pic, its fate). Then we have that freaky Carlton hearse pick-up, Richard’s massive Senna painting, and Pierce Brosnan about to drive a Z3 across a field. Now, some links…

Bonkers James Brown interview

Smith and Sniff in Jonny’s Fiat 126

That strangely named car website

The film Richard referred to was Knocked Up (with Seth Rogan and Katherine Heigl, and also Leslie Mann)

Cancelled order police spec BMW 330d

That ‘track spec’ L322 Range Rover

M3-engined Discovery II rally car

Swedish politician Carl Bildt sharing his thoughts on Tatras

Z3 palming incident

Bond drives a Z3 across a field

Maybe the 2WD BMX Richard was remembering?

Just back from the Lotus live podcast. Great night boys thank you, and the Lotus guys fine you proud. All the best.

Thanks for the advice! I’ve spoken to Justin already about a new domain name. We’ve been honestly struggling to find a better site name that we’re happy with before buying a new domain. As far as social media goes, thats currently the next step for us.

My dad had one too. It was like a Davy lamp, the flame was inside a pressed steel shroud with metal gauze windows, so the hot gases could exhaust, and the air get in, but a flame would not propagate beyond the heater.

For what it's worth from a random internet person - It's super hard to get traction on your own site these days, but if I were you, I'd: - Get a proper domain, mywebsite.wordpress.com looks very dodgy to someone who’s never heard of you - Promote it with other social media, especially Instagram - Maybe consider another blogging platform like Medium, Substack or Tumblr? I follow a few blogs on substack and it seems to do a good job of serving me their content via email and recommending related blogs, small ‘zines and online newspapers. Wordpress is much more like 'your own website' which has the upside of more control, but the downside of basically being cut off from the rest of the internet. (on that side of things)

Glad y'all liked the name! Thanks for mentioning our crappy little site! Makes finishing up our degrees a lot more enjoyable.

The Z3 looks good I admit. The one off of the film looks strangely large / bond looks small. Memory tells me they’re small cars. Someone round our way had a Bertini, based on Z3. Better looking than you’d think.

I love the Z3, as I have one in my collection. I think it’s a pretty car. https://www.instagram.com/p/Cigc5CcKGQ2/?igshid=MDJmNzVkMjY=

Following up the idea of warming up car engine with electric fire. My grandfather had a paraffin heater with a hook on the top that I remember him telling me was for keeping the car engine warm in the winter. Even at a tender age (5 or so) this seemed risky...

When I was a little’un, going to steam rallies at Dingles Steam Village in Devon used to be an annual thing for some reason (probably because it was one of the few local attractions my mum was comfortable driving to). I think they also used to do tractor pulling there. The website (http://www.dinglesteam.co.uk/) doesn’t appear to have been updated since 2006 (though the design is firmly 1990s) and has a few amusing tidbits, including a bold testimonial from Fred Dibnah (I can’t quite tell because the image is so low quality) and the tagline “Dingles Steam Village is a hobby well out of control”, which isn’t entirely reassuring when you’re dealing with 12-ton traction engines, bedraggled facial hair, and what was surely a lax attitude to health and safety. I’ve had more than my fair share of exposure to doing this all day, particularly as my uncle once built a half size fully working traction engine in his living room…

I always thought that the Mk2 MR2 was the closest you could get to a "modern" 246 Dino. By the way, did someone mention MR2s (also spin 180 degrees and see the old fella who looks like he is taking a public piss) https://www.google.com/maps/@51.8861157,-3.9901059,3a,52.3y,134.96h,81.02t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1snsVyGn4SwH5YfruRmH2YnA!2e0!7i16384!8i8192

Hear a video of a 2WD bicycle. It’s not made by clever people in Leicester though. https://youtu.be/GNbNcTgKCvg

Robert McDonald

Is there a name for the process of putting a terrible old engine in a new chassis? Restochod?

Johnny's got a solo youtube channel, I'ts called the Missed Shits show. A show in which jonny reminisces over memories of past defecation.

Benjamin Rudström

No YouTube this week?

Miss Shift sounds link an automotive themed dominatrix. Offering services such as: Whipping you with the pop up aerial off a Carlton, all the pain, humiliation and excitement of a 3 hour negotiation with an aggressive Porsche dealer, and then “Green Hell” experience - 30mins of watching Nurburgring crash footage whilst your ring is wrecked

I accept this will make me sound creepy, but it's always best to crop Autotrader links to just the end of the number (i.e. like this for the BMW: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202207187907148) otherwise you're inadvertently sharing your postcode. While I've got Autotrader links on the mind (interesting chap of course), you can see the date the ad was created by looking at that number - it's yyyymmdd, so that BMW was posted on the 18th July 2022, so that's been around a long time now!

On the point re front drive bikes…..the Swytch kit you can retro fit to bikes to make them e-bikes is technically making them front wheel drive. Ok yes you have to spin the peddles to make it drive but…..I know because I’ve fitted said kit to my 1992 Orange Aluminium Elite, I know sacrilege but it’s mine and I’ve had it since 92 so fiddlesticks.

Robert Clay-parker

Ooops, sorry, it's there now.

Smith and Sniff

Uh, any chance we can see the Senna painting? lol

Mike Zafiris

Oh my god, did James brown do this interview half way through a massive dental procedure? Not only does he seem high on cocaine, his teeth look unnaturally white and he still seems to have the goggles they make you wear at the dentists on.
