OTLOT4 - Live at Lotus

Hello people of Patreon.

We bring you exciting news. The fourth Smith and Sniff On That Live Of Things is happening next month at Lotus in Norfolk. Here are the headlines:

When: Thursday 9 February

Where: The Lotus Brand Centre, Potash Lane, Hethel, Norfolk.

Why: Erm, because these live recordings are a thing Jonny and Richard do now?

As well as hearing Smith and Sniff recording a podcast and an audience Q&A you’ll get to see some interesting Lotuses, including the new Emira and Eletre, buy some Lotus or Smith and Sniff merch, and get refreshments from the on-site cafe, run by local legend Delia Smith. She probably won't be there.

Tickets go on sale to the general public on Monday but you, our lovely Patrons, can get in there this weekend and buy a ticket before anyone else. To do that go here. And we hope to see you on the 9th of February.

"Faint twang of banjos" :-D

I second this

Thanks for the live show. Thoroughly pleasant evening. However, as a call back to the episode discussing the fraught nature of high-powered Caterhams, I'm happy to confirm it's all true. In my 27-year driving career, covering hundreds of thousands of miles, in all types of vehicles, and on every type of road, I have never had a worse drive than the drive back from Hethel. The first 10-15 miles were horrendous because I couldn't get a single degree of heat into the tyres. With every roundabout, my anus consumed a little more of the driver's seat. By the time I'd reached a dual-carriageway, I'd rectally consumed most of the seat squab. When I finally did start to feel a bit of grip, I discovered the A47 was closed and was forced to take backroads. It was horribly unpleasant, but just as soon as I started to relax a bit, I noticed the needle of the fuel gauge was deep into the red. In fact, around every right-hand bend, the needle fell to the stop. Middle of nowhere, no idea where I was, trying to find a rural petrol station open at midnight. Fucking brilliant. Just as the engine began to splutter and I started to hear the faint twang of banjos being played, the bright lights of Esso appeared on the horizon. I refuelled, did the biggest piss of my life behind a bin and, despite not having had a cigarette for many years, bought a pack of Marlboro and chain-smoked a handful before resuming the journey. Two hours after setting off from Hethel, I arrived home. My average speed was a little over 25mph. My heart rate was akin to that of a crack-addled mouse, and I suspect my hands will be locked in the deathgrip steering position for several days to come. I'm taking the Yaris next time.
