I do love a delve into the KPM session recordings of incidental and theme music; and KPM had some great session performers and composers. 'Bell Hop' was also by KPM and was used as the theme to 'Terry and June.'

2022-12-17 17:25:45 +0000 UTCIn terms of old people driving quickly, I became aware of an incident through work in which a more elderly gentleman left the road near Mansfield and caused some infrastructure damage to the nearby railway. Nothing unusual there apart from he was driving a Nissan GTR with a private plate which ended up inelegantly parked on top of a steel fence and level crossing warning light.

2022-12-13 22:19:48 +0000 UTCAs someone with red hair (well once I did) was thinking, why would I look up the origin of ginger up? Then remembered from QI what gingering up a horse was. I might add I'm only half way through the first coffee of the day...

2022-12-12 22:02:56 +0000 UTCMy father (64) has the Volvo XC40 electric with 400hp. Despite this, he has only mashed its throttle once or twice and otherwise drives it at a steady 67 on the motorway.

2022-12-12 08:14:13 +0000 UTCMy mum generally drives her age (82) not her shoe size (38) in her Mercedes A-class. I always wonder what the rush is but feel better knowing sheβs probably not annoying anyone π€·πΌ

2022-12-11 20:51:04 +0000 UTCI've just been watching Woollard's moment and before that there's a look at a stick on fake car lock that apparently tells people your car has... an alarm? The past must've been a baffling place.

2022-12-11 19:50:47 +0000 UTCRe. old people and risk taking - yes, absolutely logical and, On That Side Of Things, mentioned is David Speigelholterβs book The Norm Chronicles where he introduces the concept of The Micromort. This is a metric to express the likelihood of dying on any day, which of course varies with age and activity. The older you get, the more daily Micromorts you are exposed to (as old people have a higher likelihood of dying each day due ageing). Expressing risk this way allows an apples-for-apples comparison of taking up skydiving vs. taking up smoking, for example. It also naturally falls out that the older you get, the more risks you should take, as youβve less life left to lose! Keep up the good work chaps!
