I do love a delve into the KPM session recordings of incidental and theme music; and KPM had some great session performers and composers. 'Bell Hop' was also by KPM and was used as the theme to 'Terry and June.'

John Hammond

In terms of old people driving quickly, I became aware of an incident through work in which a more elderly gentleman left the road near Mansfield and caused some infrastructure damage to the nearby railway. Nothing unusual there apart from he was driving a Nissan GTR with a private plate which ended up inelegantly parked on top of a steel fence and level crossing warning light.

As someone with red hair (well once I did) was thinking, why would I look up the origin of ginger up? Then remembered from QI what gingering up a horse was. I might add I'm only half way through the first coffee of the day...

My father (64) has the Volvo XC40 electric with 400hp. Despite this, he has only mashed its throttle once or twice and otherwise drives it at a steady 67 on the motorway.

Ed Storer

Souped up is one thing; look up the origin of ginger up.

My mum generally drives her age (82) not her shoe size (38) in her Mercedes A-class. I always wonder what the rush is but feel better knowing she’s probably not annoying anyone 🀷🏼

Really wanted to come, couldn't make it. Sounded like a fantastic evening.

Andrew Armstrong

I've just been watching Woollard's moment and before that there's a look at a stick on fake car lock that apparently tells people your car has... an alarm? The past must've been a baffling place.

Matt Tester

So that's my next 2 weeks spoiled having been there for the recordings. Didn't think that through did I?

Re. old people and risk taking - yes, absolutely logical and, On That Side Of Things, mentioned is David Speigelholter’s book The Norm Chronicles where he introduces the concept of The Micromort. This is a metric to express the likelihood of dying on any day, which of course varies with age and activity. The older you get, the more daily Micromorts you are exposed to (as old people have a higher likelihood of dying each day due ageing). Expressing risk this way allows an apples-for-apples comparison of taking up skydiving vs. taking up smoking, for example. It also naturally falls out that the older you get, the more risks you should take, as you’ve less life left to lose! Keep up the good work chaps!

Cheers guys, great show/evening. Well worth the 4 hour drive!

That's some blower to make a marquee sound like the inside of an old Defender with the heating fully pinned in 2nd.

Loved every minute of it! And kudos to those who helped to coordinate the cars up the hills on the way out. Never been more glad to be in a FWD shitbox with winter tyres!

Tim Grainger

Had a great night! Fun time returning home in the defender

Noah Denoual

It’s my mates car, but a good team effort. All part of the fun!

If yours was the red one, you did well!
