Hello again people of the Patreon. What do we have for you in this smorgasbord of shite? Well, we lead with a screen grab of Her Majesty’s X-Type in back of shot at Windsor. Then we have listener Seth’s very long gearlever (and gutter fingering position) followed by an example of the fine things to be found in Steve Saxty’s new book. He’s not paying us to say this stuff (but he did get in touch to offer a discount code for Smith and Sniff Patrons, see below). Now, some links;

The official song for Aussie petrol heads in now The Chats - 6L GTR because mullets. https://youtu.be/hrkuo0y8gMU

Dean Groom

Of course, John Farnham was born in Dagenham. Seems appropriate somehow.

Peter Asquith

J802GEU untaxed since '03

Tom Elliott-Mell

I had a rather car like ute....subaru BRAT.....handled like a car for sure, until i understeered it in to a wall.

Anik Adamali

If you need to offload the Panda do let me know.

Ross Hetherington

What am I missing with the pic of the Sierra?

Colin Kao

I remember that Top Gear CD! I really wanted Out of the Blue, the Elton John instrumental, to appear as the closing track, in a nod to pre-90s old TG

Ed Storer

Leaving off with a mention of the SV-1 (Canada's DMC-12) leaves you in perfect position to make fun of Canadians next time. Same amount of mullets as the Aussies, but rather more denim.

Brendan McAleer

Alanis and Elizabeth are 2/3's of the hosts of a new F1 podcast called Donut Racing Show. They've been talking up their book, and I'm glad to hear Richard considers it well researched and written!

Kevin Perham

Did someone say Tekno Biking? Take a look at this - whilst not quite tekno (it’s drum and base) it is however glorious. https://youtu.be/rX1fO0zcShQ

George Kinghorn

The unicorn comment made me chuckle, Unicorn caravan owner towed by JDM Nissan Elgrand here 😂

Dean Hempshall

I really, really hope that Cavalier can be found - had a proper lump in my throat for that story.

Joe Burwell

I had the Top Gear CD too, but I also had a yellow one from the late 90s. Both favourites in the car.

Ben Oliver

I've been getting more into Australian Fords after watching Mighty Car Mods making their Barra powered Toyota Cresta, and becoming a bit obsessed with the FPV Barra powered Falcons. Give me an FPV F6 Ute (see Ford Falcon with a 400 hp turbo 4.0 Straight Six) over any Holden any day. Although I'll happily have a Monaro too.

Dean

Jonny the you sure it was a Maloo it might have been HubNut driving it as the reg had V8 in it? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4EW77-fFKV4

Nigel Hancock

Sorry, I am that nerd.....!

Peter Honnor

Ooops, I think it might be this one; https://www.discogs.com/release/12387837-Various-The-Greatest-Driving-Album-This-Year

Smith and Sniff

Secret Fawds’s.

Steve Saxty already cost me over £150 this year. I couldn’t resist buying the deluxe collectors editions with extra books and posters could I?

Tim C

Erm......the sleeve notes and Richard getting a mention.....on the discogs album sleeve scan he's nowhere to be seen!? Or am I being a bit dim!?

Peter Honnor

The Hillman gear lever photo looks like a Hillman Hunter to me rather than an Avenger, but I could be wrong

Steve Morton

I have the Top Gear CD in question. Still gets a play on long journeys from time to time
