Podcast 99 - Anyway, the ID.Buzz

Jonny and Richard attempt to talk about the Volkswagen ID.Buzz but get slightly distracted by unexpected wetsuits, the Bristol Channel, Florence out of Florence + The Machine as a mermaid, meeting an etceterist, a weird homemade song about Boots Vouchers, walloping 909 beats, Federal-spec Peugeots, the film Blade (again), saying 'the thing is', being really into Marillion, having a terrible Ben Sherman Page 3 shirt, shouting swear words at a charging flap, low fat lard, and Richard's new car.

Now you've said it, I can't see anything but a creepy clown-face!

Mark Elliott

Is it me, or does that thumbnail give the Buzz a sinister clown-face

Tom Lanigan

Towbar, 9KW diesel generator. Golden.

Dark Newt

Landlocked Surfer were that early 90's rip off of The Levellers, never got anywhere but I'm sure I heard them on a Peel session.

Mike Taylor

Think this also applied to the Capri.... Although not sure.

Ed Davis

Don't forget the mighty 1st gen Sierra for a range of engines. Starting at a wheezing 1.3 pinto all the way up to the mighty 2.8 V6. And for the Australian market the same car was offered with a V8.

Ed Davis

The 4th generation Dodge Dart (67-76) had a 2.8 six to a 7.2 V8.

Aidan Gale

Third generation Dodge Ram only matches the 4.6 litre sweep with 3.7 6-pot up to the 8.3 V10 from the Viper.

Matt Tester

Both topics are qualifying-ly tedious for the next Boring Car Trivia

Steffan Davies

Damn I was going down the lorry route.

Robin White

I have a colleague at work. No matter what you're talking about he always, without fail, replies with an anecdote which starts "the best one was.... " "i nearly crashed this morning.." "the best one was when I nearly crashed..." How is that better. Just Fk off 😂

Martin Stephenson

My mistake,sincere apologies

Kevin Collett

Has to be same model, not just same car company. Cygnet would be a winner if you counted the V12 version (1.3-litre to 6-litre spread) but it was a one-off so I don't think we can allow it. Richard

Smith and Sniff

2011 models.Aston Martin Cygnet 1.3 litres,One-77 7.1 litres. 5.8 litre spread was my first thought OTSOT

Kevin Collett

I was thinking of cylinder spread as the follow up game. Watch this space... Richard

Smith and Sniff

It can be challenging, but I'm about to move out of London (not for EV reasons, but it's a bonus). Richard

Smith and Sniff

I took my info from Wikipedia without verifying it. *hangs head*

BoringCarDriver

How is charging up an electric car in London Town? I assume you can’t trail cables over pavements?

david price

Another can of worms…cars with the largest gap in cylinder count? The e32 BMW 7Series…Straight 6 through to the Goldfisch prototype V16=cylinder gap of 10 cylinders (I’m not applying the same rules re concepts/prototypes as Peter)😊

Steffan Davies

I think the W212 went from the 1.6 to the Brabus EV12, which used a twin turbo 6.2 v12 rather than the M297 7.3, so effectively the same spread as the W204. I raise you with an equally controversial suggestion, the CLK W208…The CLK 200 has a 2.0 petrol engine, whilst the CLK GTR has the fabled M297 7.3 V12. Although it only shared instrumentation, front grille and the 4 round front headlamps of the normal CLK, a production run of 25 road cars was completed to meet the homologation rules to enter the FIA GT Championship, therefore not a concept car and a spread of 5.3 litres🤓 I’m a hoot at a dinner party…

Steffan Davies

How about 1968 Mustang .... 200 CID (3.3L) inline 6 to 428 CID (7.0L) V8, that's 4.7L difference in the same model year.

Ed Nicholson

W212 E Class went from 1.8 to 7.3, if we’re allowed to include Brabus models?

BoringCarDriver

Fair enough if it isn’t, my first car thought was w463 g-wagens went from 200ge (2.0lt) - g65 (6.3lt) though it only has 4.3lt difference, that is 8 cylinders and 2 turbos different…

Jamie W

Might have to contact Peter, the game’s inventor, for a steward’s enquiry on this one. Richard

Smith and Sniff

Solid, but I think the 2-litre and 7-litre were in different generations. Richard

Smith and Sniff

Oh yes - just when I thought Richard was going to once again frustratingly deny me my desperately needed story completion, sticking around for the last 27 seconds SAVED EVERYTHING! The clever techno and haunting vocals of BOOTES VOUCHERS is now a part of my ongoing musical education. What a relief, yet still leaves me wanting more.

Guy Sande

Might be classed as cheating but current Scania R-series goes from 6.7lt straight 6 to 16.4lt v8 (=9.7lt difference)

Jamie W

This one came to mind right away Camaro, 2.0L turbo all the way up to a 7.0L V8.

Ed Nicholson

Bristol Channel is the second highest Tidal reach after the Bay of Fundy in Nova Scotia. Glad you enjoyed Portishead. My father in law brought those Big Ships in to the Docks!
