Podcast 97 - Prelude 1.8 on low RON fuel

Jonny's been listening to Foreigner and Richard has a problem with the way people impersonate Elvis.

Also in this episode, enjoying over-the-top songs, the art of extremely good backing vocals, grating cheese on a SAAB 99 Turbo alloy wheel, the value of PlayStation memorabilia, the inconvenience of cassette tapes, and the heroism of tumbling superbike riders.

Plus, Fanta accidents, classic cisterns, West Country power, Japanese lavatory mishaps, more Alfa Giulia thoughts, and bands you can't enjoy because the leader singer seems to be a bit of a flute.

Current over the top song chaps, Dangerous Ground by H E A T. Even has some form of (I assume) muscle car revving up at the start.

Peter Brightwell

Absolute Radio, sitting backwards on the loo, Saab 3 spoke alloys, high cisterns. This is why we listen to this podcast. We're all thinking it!

Andrew Armstrong

Jonny's brother is correct on the old high cistern toilets. The modern short flush toilets are the bane of my professional life (drainage worker) along with wet wipes.

nick smith

Modern washloos are also app controlled for opportunities of further high-jinx with visitors 👍

Maurice Barnes

Yes Orangina does still exist here in France in the small glass bottles, other sizes are available obviously

Steve Morton

Sorry, I assumed they were of no value to anyone and chucked 'em in the recycling. Richard

I also love a classic washing machine, complete with a “hot fill”…. Not to be confused with “hot Phil”…. Which is quite different

Adam

If one was engaged in extended activity whilst forward facing on a toilet, would the product not begin to build up on the shelf area running the risk of cheek/product contact, on that side of things?

Mike Taylor

Bob Mortimer is an advocate of the reverse toilet stance because of, in his words, 'a high anus'...

Duncan Dyer

I'm definitely one to ignore a band if the lead singer is a flute. For example I won't have any Marc Almond or Soft Cell played, based on him having a hissy diva tantrum at the backing band during one of TV's Chris Evans "Car Fests" a few years back. A total plastic botox faced flute. I also think the same of the Stereophonics after Kelly Jones took the piss out of Baaaad Dad from the Adam & Joe show.

John Hammond

Great show as always. I just looked at the PEPSI Concorde - Unilever missed an opportunity there, they could have borrowed the supersonic signage for a while, and for the price of some minor alterations, had a PERSIL powered plane. Oh well.

Tom Lanigan

I've been listening to The KLF as they recently put a load on Spotify. I do have Doctorin' The Tardis on vinyl, naturally, on that side of things.

Matt Tester

Great show again! Your chat about Curiosity reminded me about this "celebrity" dating show that the lead singer, Ben Vol-Au-Vont Parrot, appeared on. I believe the clip is on YouTube so if you find it, tell me if you think it's scripted or not!

Stuart Richards

Very interested in the tapes if they are for sale Richard as I have 80s cars with tape decks I often need new listening material. 😄another great cast 😀

I'm going to Aylesbury tomorrow to buy an R129 SL. I may end up coming home with a Saab with three-spokes now!
