Hello again. Jonny's back this week! And here are three photos to celebrate; Southend Pier, a SAAB doing an animal strike test, and a Lexus in an unusual olive-ish green. Now here are some links...

Southend Pier has its own website - https://www.southendpier.co.uk

That show where Gregg Wallace goes around factories shouting at people - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inside_the_Factory

Fantastic pod, chaps. I have to share the definitive internet-based writing on laxatives, "The Picolax Thread" on mountain biking site, Singletrack: https://singletrackworld.com/2009/02/the-picolax-thread-returns/ It's long, but oh so worthwhile

The talk of the “elk test” reminds me of a story OTSOT. I knew a guy who knew a guy who crashed into a moose. Northern Alberta, Canada in the years before cell phones were common. Late evening, quiet highway, hit a fully-grown moose from behind. Like you said, knocked out the poor thing’s legs, resulting in having the arse come through the windshield, on the passenger side. Would have killed anyone in that seat, but as it was the roof was crushed backwards, and the driver’s door wouldn’t open. The driver was uninjured, but trapped in the seat. The moose, still alive, frantically shitting all over the interior of the car. Hours passed before anyone happened on the scene. The poor animal was shot and driver finally cut out of the car next morning. Just about the worst way I can think of so spend the night.

My career was at district so no fancy roads policing bimmers for us. My fav beat car was the 307’s. We had one on station that was always faulted for a blown headlight but we soon realised that a quick blast with sirens and blues (full monty button at the time) and the headlight would fix itself. The focus replacement wasn’t as good on farm tracks etc. but the ST TDCI Mondeos we’re fought over by the advanced drivers.

I'm vey glad to see that this week's Patreon images are not images from Jonny's anal submarine deep dive/exhaust tuning experience. Re: the new UK police cars, I'd go for something like a Suzuki Vitara, such as TV's Richard Hammond used. Or, even a Mustang, like American cops had back in the 1980s. I once saw an unmarked (obviously) bright orange Dodge Challenger pull someone over, and it didn't even catch fire. Oh, and as for Wyoming, it's a fantastic slice of America. I've had the good fortune to spend quite a lot of time there over the last decade. It's a wide-open, rugged, but beautiful place, and gives a real taste of that classic American "wild west" that was so important to our history. It's a truly unique part of the country, and would be even more amazing if I wasn't American. Go for it!

Echo Adam above, thanks for sharing Johnny, as someone who found a lump on his ball aged 33 that turned out to be cancer, I can't stress enough to everyone, if you find a lump that's not right, get it checked out.

Jonny, Kudos to you for talking openly about your stage 3 tuning.

Adam

I too have had the full exhaust service. The whole procedure was was dealt with very professionally as you'd expect. However, upon receiving the clean bill of health certificate, I read at the bottom that the 'mechanic's' name was Faizal Butt.

Jonny's hair transformation from presumably very high maintenance to virtually none is quite radical, but at least he doesn't look like he's been shocked with 120,000 volts of electricity anymore.

Paddy Harvey

It’s Sum 41 Jonny.

How can you forget this greg wallace classic? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IfeyUGZt8nk

Thinfourth

Early 2000s Nu-Metal Jonny in the Opel Corsa video. Someone should dare him to grow it back like that for charity

Tim Organo

Arghhh... what sort of monster would do that to a Saab - and a Monte Carlo yellow one at that! I need to go and rock back and forth in a foetal position now.

Rob Dalby

Good old Greg Wallace. The only bald man who can wear a hairnet without any sense of irony
