Podcast 95 - What it's like to live with an old Range Rover

Richard is flying solo this week and spends most of the podcast droning on about his Range Rover and then mangling the pronunciation of German words. Sorry.

Comments

Richard, we need a RR update.

Michael

Good job Richard. My favourite sniff & smith vids are the lunches and people watching vids 👍

nick smith

Out of interest Richard what milage was the RR when you purchased it? Service history etc? I only ask as I am very much in the mind set of owning such a contraption. I drive a van daily which I love (the van) but for the weekends I really want a V8, RR or a C/E/CLS 63 estate.

Chris Jarrett

Good effort Mr Porter, solo podcasting is quite difficult, almost convinced me an 11 Yr old Land Rover is a solid purchasing choice. That car park was obviously a dogging spot, that flat floor has more uses other than dog comfort!

Vincent Grey

Surely we now need a Jonny only episode to see how he adapts. Thought it was great Richard, and I can see how dog comfort plays a big part of the L322 ownership experience. Bizarrely was listening to this on my morning walk and spotted a lovely metallic blue 61 plate parking up sans diesel noise, but also sans dog.

Dave Smith

The videos are fun but listening to a podcast is much easier to fit around normal work. My only real complaint is that we don't get to compare the lunch spreads from the manufacturers on launch events.

Ryan Beveridge

The Range Rover sounds lovely, thanks for the Monday morning pick me up Richard 👍🏻

Chris Jarrett

To tag onto that thought of MGs, the Pride of Longbridge is back this year. A wee throwback to one of your past casts. Smith and Sniff special looking at some BL chod?

Martin McKenna

Excellent wee solo jobby. I hate being asked about how my cars are running, as almost certainly if I say they’re fine, something will go wrong. They’re MGs, they’re probably listening the now and wondering what to break…

Martin McKenna

Sort of covered that with the whole battery going dead bit, and also the OG vid from a few years back

Sean Hamerton

I loved the old cheapo vids, but the pod covers 95% of the fun silly extra bits I loved most of all. The review segments were good as well...

Sean Hamerton

I enjoyed this episode after watching Jonny hauling a Sierra out of a barn! Don't worry about the expense of doing video, entertainment wise I enjoy each of these podcasts and I love the randomness of your chats, never worry about going off topic or that there is not much car content. They are always great fun.

Steve Morton

The Bond Car Bingo video was fun and definitely looked great. But yes we would happy with watching you two twats eating lunch in a car park in a borrowed car again from time to time. :-)

Ed Nicholson

Saving this for my commute to Fort Dunlop tomorrow, looking forward to your episode on what it's like to live with a 997. I need to convince my other half that one would be a sensible choice as a daily.

Shaun Kelly

I have to say thank you, Richard. I love your dedication. As much as I enjoy the usual 'format' I throughly enjoyed your solo babble, keep up the good work guys. Can't wait to watch what the car perv was off doing

Darryl Mac

Thanks Richard! Appreciate the effort on doing this solo! Hope you make Jonny pay dearly for this

Paul Yeung

Excellent solo effort Rich, we should talk of this in hallowed tones when Jonny returns.

Graham Dallas

Don't piddle too much money on S+S video production. The Olfi-shot ones worked well, and would satisfy subscribers to the YouTube channel, I'm sure. I understand the challenge in justifying the meet up and video Vs podcast, and views Vs listens. The occasional video in whatever car you're testing that week would be nice.

Andrew

Thanks Richard for putting out something even if it's not the usual content :)

Ben Payne

If you're done with regular videos, could you go Grand Tour and instead of doing a series of videos, do the occasional special when you can both do something?

Tim Organo

I love a good episode of the And Sniff podcast
