Podcast 93 - Accidentally kicking an Alpine A110 under the fridge

Jonny's been to see Gordon Murray and Richard has weird memories of trying to win a Porsche 924S.

Plus, some lesser known facts about the GMA T.33, the kind of Terminator robot that does admin, the cost of servicing a Ford GT, and discovering where Weetabix comes from.

Also in this episode, Britain's biggest Post-It note enthusiast, pre-selector gearboxes on buses, the fate of 5th Gear giveaway cars, people who say "pull the trigger", and what on earth is the matter with Sir Lord Alan Sugar?

Those bus transmission imitations sound like the ZF gearboxes that old MAN SL200s had over here. https://youtu.be/mkAYo61uhK8

This is worth a watch. Very funny. The second one may even be better. 😁 https://youtu.be/Yxi6QDwQyLU

For everyone a follow up for the Slord Sugar Apprentice after dark. This is a great vid. https://youtu.be/Yxi6QDwQyLU

I have no idea who Alan Sugar is, but now I feel I know exactly who he is

Colin Kao

Heathrow Longstay sounds like the hero of a 70s pulp novel

Jim Galbraith

Best impression of SLORD Alan Sugar I've ever heard, good effort Jonny.

George Wade

Gordon Murray has a house in the highlands and I think I've seen him mention the Jimny as living there.

Martin Gutkowski

Tommy Makinen evo give away? Oh Imagine

Darryl Mac

Richard channeling supreme businessman Brian Butterfield there at the end of the podcast really tickled me! Excellent stuff.

Phil R

I don't think Jonny should be too worried about using the term grower not a shower when talking to Gordon Murray, as I think on the Harry Garage walk around of the T.33, Gordon used the term wanky to describe some styling features he didn't like.

Stephen Voss

I refuse to be triggered ( 😝) and Richard's description of the sort who use that phrase in non- trolling instances was spot- on.

I won a Fiesta Popular in a Tescos competition in 1987. It had no cigarette lighter socket, just a blanking plug. (It wasn’t a Popular Plus.) I took it straight back to the Ford garage and swapped it for an old Golf Gti plus cash.

Ian Miles

That was gold, and it passed so quickly. I think there are future Slord Sugar crossover features to be discussed.

Graham Dallas

I usually listen on a Monday morning but I just had to pull the trigger early this week.

Ronnie Whelan

Was planning on going for a quick run. So having read the show notes I now have to. The “pull the trigger” thing is pre-angrying me. Sorry, I’ve got to go, it’s wound me up too much…..
