Pod 91 show notes

Hello gang. Here we go with this week's show notes. The pics show one of the 'drift spec' Discoverys that Richard spotted in Bristol, the rug-kneeling way Jonny recorded this podcast, and the very small bathroom at his new office. He didn't get a chance to take a new picture so this is the one he messaged to Richard last week but with his legs and fully descended pants/trousers pixellated for your comfort. Then we have an authentic photo of a hired Peugeot 205 GTI being used for a road rally by our correspondent Kevin Bird and two photos of the idiotic half-a-Mondeo trailer Jonny seems so keen to buy. Unfortunately, the original ad seems to have disappeared.

Buy the trailer, but cut the A-frame off and park it right up to the wall of your house to make it look like its driving into a parallel dimension…. Or crashed

Adam

I have just spent the last hour driving to Bristol, listening to the Bristol podcast. I now feel obliged to head out tomorrow to see if the listing discovery is still there.

Dom

I’m always happy to have a spider in the van during the summer. Yes it does sound a bit unclean but it keeps all those buzzing pests at bay, so feel it’s a necessary evil.

Alexandros Theodorou

8 bog rolls for the 'poo of a thousand wipes'.

Peter Heamon

If Bristol is the most 90s city in Britain the obvious question is what places best capture other decades? I would put forward Port Talbot to represent the 70s. Other ideas or contenders?

Jonathan

It's still under warranty and I have a rare limited-edition Disco that's never had a single fault, but I want to try to stack the odds in my favour!

Simon O

> in case it decides to break. Gotta love an optimist.

Tim C

I feel the disco's pain - the L322 we have for sale(!) now has the opposite issue and thinks the appropriate ride height for the front axle it about a foot and a half between wheel and arch... and looks a bit like this disco at the back, like reverse rake (or any 90s Audi under Wide Open Throttle, its headlights illuminating the sky in some sort of batman style signal for help!) bloody thing is a toss weasle!

Automotive Tales

Hey Richard, thanks for correcting your egregious Land Rover Discovery locking differential error - I only joined as a Patreon last week and already I've got my £1 worth. I never leave my Disco on the access setting, partly because it makes it look stupid and partly because I want the air suspension compressor to do as little work as possible, in case it decides to break.

Simon O

Glad you found a cushion for the cover!

Peter Heamon

Ref Brian May badger sanctuary. A colleagues son works for one of his charities which is run from the grounds of Brian’s home. He has told me that while it isn’t a badger sanctuary he does have a wild animal health facility with vets etc on the same grounds… no information on whether he is running cars on iffy diesel. He is apparently a lovely chap. As you were

Guy Meagher

Bristol sounds a lot like Portland here in the US. There's a show called Portlandia on Netflix that parodies the entire scene: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4hShMEk1Ew

Michael Cosgrove

There's a spider living in the offside wing mirror of my MK1 Yaris - I think my mum might have one in a mirror on her Micra too?

Ben Payne

Does anyone know how one might provide this drivel with a 5 star rating in 🍎?

Robert Clay-parker

How did the pixelization make it somehow less SFW???

Neil Gatley

That's a pretty small "lavvy", you're in danger of scalding your knee. 8 bog rolls though!

Graham Dallas

Still not as good as the Passat one https://www.pinterest.com/amp/diinovelvet/dupe-wagon-trailers/

Vítor Hugo Silva

Ah yes, that’s the problem. I knew there was something odd about this half-a-mondeo trailer

TJ Harrop

Gel plate on the trailer. Just no.
