Podcast 89 - YouTube clip show
Added 2022-01-02 18:00:04 +0000 UTCJonny and Richard are taking a break so here are some Smith and Sniff greatest hits from those old videos where they had lunch in a parked car. Topics covered in this flashback episode include the point of Magnus Walker, Jackie Stewart's West End Show and restomod, Jonny having a weird weekend with a Vectra VXR, Richard arguing with a car wash man about the size of the Rover 75, a second rate Knight Rider convention, ironic replicas, why dentist surgeries have fish tanks and not a duck waddling about the place, Jonny's mashed-up housemate and his love of the Prelude 2.2, leaving a car on Bono's driveway, Annie Lennox's weird pronunciation, and a man who drank an entire bottle of Captain Morgan spiced rum and got into a multi-part trouser catastrophe.
Special thanks to Ian Deeley for audio assistance on this episode.

2022-01-09 00:03:49 +0000 UTCNice to listen to these again, will have to watch some of the videos back I think. I have a mate like Jonny's Cap'n Morgan friend named Pete. He is a bit calmer these days but when we were younger he would regularly drink to the point that he fouled himself but took it as a point of pride that it would never end his evening. He would just discard any undergarments, clean up and keep going. I found a pair of his paisley boxer shorts, with an unexpected guest in residence, abandoned in the gents of our local boozer once myself. On one night out on top of the booze he had also popped a couple of ecstasy pills and hurried us to the local nightclub so that he could get in before he started chewing his own face off when they hit him. To be honest we were all too old to be there anyway and the ladies disinterested glaces said that they knew it. Anyhow Pete was undeterred, dancing like God he moved in very mysterious ways with any young lady not quick enough to avoid him, until at one point he lost his balance and fell. Flat on his back, he continued to dance exactly as he had been, but now instead of someone dancing oddly he looked like he was having some kind of seizure. In addition the drugs were now in full force and he was an eye-rolling gurning mess. Inevitably, the bouncers decided that his time there was at an end. A couple of weeks later I was out in town walking back from a restaurant at about 10pm when Pete ran past me. For reasons that have never been made entirely clear he was stark naked and had stolen the 8 foot high bottle-shaped offers blackboard from outside the local Unwins. Seeing me he stopped, said hello like there was nothing unusual happening, then told me to deny seeing him before haring off. The offers board stayed in his living room for a week or so until his long suffering girlfriend had enough and made him take it back. Anyhow if you do another of these, a request for Jonny's motorway services glory-hole mishap please!

2022-01-08 12:01:39 +0000 UTCNot even an exaggeration to say I nearly crashed while I was driving listening to this week’s YouTube highlights podcast, it’s hard to negotiate roundabouts while partially blinded by the tears of so many laughs 😂 Brilliant way to start the year off!

2022-01-03 14:20:54 +0000 UTCYouTube emailed me: "There's a new video that matches your search for 'ASMR for Practicing Bulemics'". Happy New Year lads, and Rich - I bet you a quid this took longer to put together than recording a whole new chat would have done :-)

2022-01-03 00:57:27 +0000 UTCI once took my son to a version of a Knight Rider convention, about 15 years ago. It was in a pub car park somewhere near Leeds (iirc) and really under whelming. He got to sit inside one of the replicas and he really liked it. Me, on the other hand experienced a big dose of ambivalence- trying to accept that these 'pride and joy's of their owners various overdraft limits, proudly displayed in a rainy car park measured up to my expectations upon seeing Kitts up close for the first time, in various stages of almost completion. I did try to enjoy it, but after an hour both of us were ready to go and traipse round Ikea's time trial course to buy a sofa. Never meet your heroes. Or six replicas of them.

2022-01-02 22:46:17 +0000 UTCAs someone who used to drive a gritter, Smart fourtwo. You need to know that gritter drivers usually get in before it gets bad. I was driving a 7.5ton gritter on a C licence with no previous or even daylight experience (as per Chops) and the 4hr route on a bit of paper and no working fuel gauge. Oh and a dead salt-poisoned wood pigeon (had eaten the salt dosed with molasses to make it stick to the road) on the hopper mesh.
