Podcast 86 - Body like an old 911 Turbo

Jonny is worried he has the physique of a 1970s Porsche and Richard has spotted a flute shop.

Also in this episode, free Audi gloves, extremely lavish press trips, Rod Stewart's terrible new material, very smooth American cars of the '90s, large Dane Bowers bodywarmers, Steve Lamacq's peanut diet, East 17-spec jackets, the size of road signs, buying the old B ISTO ARS lettering, and what the merry heck is going on with the BMW XM?

Comments

Regarding the AE vs BE pronunciation the Porsche Codes: In German it is actually Drei-Sechundfünfziger (356), Neun-Achtundzwanziger (928), Neun-Elfer (911) and so on - so even it might sound uneducated to British ears it is correctly translated.

I just discovered today, via a recommended YouTube video, that tank biathlon is a thing. They aren't on skis (that would be even more incredible) but it's still great to watch.

Does anyone else find it slightly unsettling when they see someone driving a very small car whilst wearing a very large coat?

Please have Jonny properly lubed with coffee more often. Brilliant and manic episode!

Apparently I've only listened to 7,627 minutes of the pod this year, although I always listen to each episode through on Patreon first so that's probably another couple of thousand.

Jonny needs a 935 body

I think Joe under his Polo has to listen so many times just to understand all of the references!

BMW’s current design language feels like an ongoing experiment to see just how much appalling tosh people will pay for just to get a high status badge.

Great podcast guys

Reading the show notes before listening to the jewel within is rather like finding and picking up one of Ross Noble’s scripts.

Richard Fitton-Perkins

The new BM style is like those bloody awful caricature drawings of cars you get from shopping mall kiosks

Sean Hamerton

Trans World Sport is still going amazingly! I just remember it being on very early on a Saturday morning when I was younger and the iconic voice of Bruce Hammal narrating clips.

Stuart Richards

Classic episode, no real overarching topic, just a veritable cornucopia of stuff that we love.
