Podcast 85 - Why Jonny quit Fifth Gear
Added 2021-11-28 18:01:02 +0000 UTCJonny explains why the new series of Fifth Gear is going ahead without him.
Also in this episode, the London-to-Brian run, the weirdness of veteran cars, pre-1905 restomodding, being snooty about Surrey, what constitutes "working well" when it comes to old Range Rovers, that Hyundai Grandeur concept car, going to a fancy dress party as one of Pet Shop Boys, and DSG peacocking in coastal towns.
Plus, Richard almost crashes due to a wheel palming disaster and Jonny tells the story of his extremely rude office chair.
Comments
Could do London to Bryan in Ohio as both towns exist. Maybe then head on up to Brighton, Michigan as well.

2022-06-08 15:14:26 +0000 UTCI never thought I'd say this but I could really relate to hearing a discussion about "Palming & Knobs". That well known soap brand found in mid price hotel en-suites. I'm foolish enough to use an old Land Rover for competing in Historic Rallying and after many years of being a "Palmer" they changed the rules to allow hydraulic handbrakes so I became a "knobber". Which ironically is very much the manner you have to drive in to try and keep up with Mini's , Escorts and yes the odd Avenger.

2021-12-04 16:36:34 +0000 UTCBrian Cant - now there's a chap from my youthful TV watching days. Once saw him in a pantomime. I wonder if there is a children's TV presenter heaven full of lovely bright colours?

2021-11-30 18:59:08 +0000 UTCJonny sat for a week on a dick chair and subsequently struggled to get it off? That's my take away from this week's podcast.

2021-11-29 05:55:24 +0000 UTCI might have downloaded this episode but for some reason I won't add it to the Podcasts until tomorrow evening. I think I've told Jonny that I add each episode to the car but once at the end go back to Pod 1 and have to listen to them all before I get to the latest one. Sometimes it means I'm weeks behind, but that's the way I do things π€£

2021-11-28 20:07:35 +0000 UTCRansomes triple reference for the win π. I rolled a Β£20k greens triple (JD 2243) once but that was due to a poor lift cradle design which mashed into behind the reverse pedal and sent me off the back of an elevated tee.

2021-11-28 19:38:48 +0000 UTCBack to the land of funny coincidences, my sister just bought a Mini Countryman that originally came from the Blue Bell dealer in Wilmslow. I think they've changed their name now. Also as a Blaster Bates fan I always enjoyed him bad mouthing Wilmslow, in the money belt of Cheshire.

2021-11-28 18:42:31 +0000 UTCVery complicated border around Farnborough and Camberley, also got Berkshire just across the A30. Used to know when you crossed into Surrey by the road surface - it was terrible even when I was a kid π€£
