Podcast 84 - Noel Gallagher's Low Mileage Cars
Added 2021-11-21 18:00:06 +0000 UTCJonny and Richard discover that Noel Gallagher is selling an old Jag. Also in this episode, creative driving, EV coast timing, traffic light concealing, the weirdness of General Electric, a big man in a small car, the smell of coaches and a return to Ken Bruce's Shotmaster. Plus, Brian Cox narrating no prep drag racing, Gary Barlow giving useless rally pace notes, U2 having a stadium gig ruined by an idling Montego Countryman, and excellent news for Bitter owners.

2021-11-22 16:27:47 +0000 UTCA decade later is probably pretty good as well, and dragging in the singular dealership again and making it Peugeot, you'd get the 205 GTi (both flavours) and the 405Mi16.

2021-11-22 14:57:23 +0000 UTCI like the idea of favourite year when it comes to cars. It would be 1978 for me - cars currently in production would be: Fiat X1/9 1300 "Special Series" Porsche 928 Lancia Beta Montecarlo Lamborghini Silhouette

2021-11-22 13:46:47 +0000 UTCMcLaren were struggling to sell F1’s in 1997-98, at an asking price of £641,000 if memory serves.

2021-11-22 12:33:31 +0000 UTCIf the year was 1972, someone suggested to me (hence having 'wasted' a lot of mental energy on the time travel and which dealership daydream) ages ago this would give you, if you went into a Fiat dealership: 128 124 132 130 850 Coupe 128 Coupe 124 coupe 130 coupe Dino Coupe Dino Spider 124 Spider 850 Spider 850T Plenty there to keep most happy. I'd go quality over quantity though. It's just a case of picking a year.

2021-11-22 12:19:08 +0000 UTCI remember when Lancia was struggling to get rid of their unsold Strato's showroom display cars. I'd quite like to stroll into the showroom with my uninformed idea of what mid-to-late 70's fashion would have been (Jeff Lynne beard and glasses, in a wide-collared Boney M disco shirt, Grange Hill flares, and Elton John's boots), with a pack of Mint Toffos in one hand, and a copy of Gerry Anderson's TV21 in the other. Unfortunately, I would take the predictable spec - it would have to be the "Stradale", and in red with gold wheels. If there was a Citroen dealership across the road, I pop my face in and enquire about a GSX3.

2021-11-22 12:02:38 +0000 UTCThere was a 1974 Bitter CD at a local Harborough car show in 2018, shame the owner didn't bring it to the Tour event in September. I took a picture of the car and the info sheet, maybe I'll email it through to the address so you can have a read through as it has a good history, it also came from Canada.

2021-11-21 20:04:56 +0000 UTCYeah, ok, this is now my joint favourite with Shotmaster and Clackerbag, for the specific reason that..... * whips off mask * That’s right, because -I- am Ant Brown from soshal meedja. Thanks for the mention chaps 👍

2021-11-21 19:46:24 +0000 UTCLove the shotmaster revisit! Reminds me of our lads trips to wales where we all bring along an old bottle of random stuff. Best so far is Stags Breath Liquer. So old, the lid had rusted on but we finally opened it and had shots.. truly awful. But we can take it further now and dress up as the label!

2021-11-21 19:11:24 +0000 UTCFun fact: U2's "The Fly" was the track which knocked Bryan Adams "(Everything I Do) I Do It For You" off the #1 spot after its record-breaking 16 week run. Though Bono and friends were displaced a week later by Vic Reeves with "Dizzy". It almost depresses me that this shit lives in my head.
