Weekly Wednesdays #3/19

So here we are, three weeks into 2019 and I'm already behind with my plans of more frequent updates to Patreon (pesky new years resolutions, right?).
In this new blog style post I will share game development progress on a weekly base to get back into a more steady cycle and more regular news updates.

Now you might ask why this is labeled #3 if it's the first of it's kind so let me fill you in:
it's based on the week number of the year, so since its already calendar week #3, the WW post is numbered 3 aswell :D

Ok then, lets get started on the news:

Midnight Ride:

Work on the next WIP release is in full steam. There will be two new additions that you can play through:
another ride (Trucker David) and a default ending that I wont spoil yet.

The game engine also got some upgrades in form of a new "text scrolling" feature in addition to an "auto advance button" that will make the story progress on its own without the need to click (up until a choice has to be made).
With this text upgrade I also added the support for different text colors and styles

thats it for the update on this front, on to the next!
And don't forget to go check out Nidma too over here.

Space Junk

I'm approximately half way through the porting of Renpy code to GameMaker. A bonus was definitely that I will use the same new text engine for it as in MR... with a few SJ specific additions.

The plan is to get the port to the same stage as the Renpy version is before you can get your hands on it.
That said, there is not much else to show that you can't already see in the old Renpy version so let's move on to the 3rd "active" project:

Twin Star

Twin Star.... oh well. This project started back in September 2016... and is still a WIP :P
There have been many ups and downs in its development since then and I would lie if I would say I was happy about how it all went down at some point.

Probably the biggest change for the reboot compared to the old techDemo version is the change of game style: no more top-down "pokemon" style!
Instead I switched it over to a more VN like style. Since I'm already re-using parts of MR and SJ engine code it was the most logical decision to keep their engines similar to reduce development time on that end.

Apart from that the other most obvious change is the appearance of Lena (the female MC) and an overal upgrade to the render quality (I have learned so much about DAZ since 2016 that it's almost impossible to look at the eye-sore that were my early renders :D )

that's it for this Weekly Wednesdays post.
