Podcast 82 - Madchester
Added 2021-11-07 19:01:01 +0000 UTCIt's the morning after The Late Brake Show Live in Manchester so Jonny and Richard are in a hotel room talking about Madchester shoes, big windowed sixties houses, almost losing control of a Ford F-150 Lightning, the horrors of doing exercise without any clothes on, and all the usual nonsense (but with added claggy throat and tiredness).
PS Show notes will be out tomorrow.

2021-12-26 21:54:11 +0000 UTCOh dear, it was all going so well. Listening to this week's cast while walking the dog. Enjoyed the back and forth of the chat, chucking the ball for the pooch, all is well with the world. I see a group of older ladies walking towards me and just as I reach them... The conversation has reached naked exercising and I am reduced to a bout of hopeless giggling. I have to stop, not even past the group, laughing fit to bust and rummaging around for my phone to pause the playback long enough to regain some composure. Top marks gents.

2021-11-09 11:56:19 +0000 UTCLove your podcast version of the Car Magazine expensive watch column. Can't beat an old Casio* * You can but it won't make any difference.

2021-11-08 17:24:25 +0000 UTCSorry. Recording all a bit ad hoc this week on a single mic going into the laptop with no monitoring.

2021-11-08 17:15:29 +0000 UTCFace's Corvette was pretty weak but the lowest powered one was the C3 with a 305ci V8 with a measly 180bhp.

2021-11-08 17:14:33 +0000 UTCHi guys - audio engineer here. Can you please try to get a better balance between voice and room reverberation - in this episode it was quite difficult to hear Richard at times. Maybe some type of low-budget lapel mic setup for hotel room settings like these? I know a cheap way to connect those to phantom power on a typical USB audio interface.

2021-11-08 12:14:09 +0000 UTCInteresting hypermileing race here between BA and Virgin starting right now - https://imgur.com/a/FOdBsWP - βBA and Virgin Atlantic have synchronised flights out of Heathrow to mark the end of a US travel ban. Shai Weiss, Virgin Atlantic CEO says the race to JFK is not about who arrives first but rather about arriving with the most efficient use of fuel.β

2021-11-08 07:11:46 +0000 UTCI stuck with it through the severe triggering the house chat caused... And it's peculiar the wife- related hobby- related anxiety isn't it? Mrs B is regularly tagged and thanked in tweets and I'm in awe of all she does for me and the kids and still she thinks there must be some seam of upset running through something (probably car-related) somewhere that I'm irked with her about. I don't know which is worse, the worry that partners have in that respect or the awfulness that would occur when they realise collectively that us men are actually doing the best we can and still regularly ballsing things up in a way they wouldn't? Christ, that was deep for 07:01... Anyway, looking forward to the show notes!

2021-11-08 07:02:21 +0000 UTCIt's simply a fact that this was the best car show I've ever been to. Every single vehicle was interesting in its own way. Such a chilled atmosphere and I was amazed at the amount of time you guys spent talking to people. A fabulous day out, thank you.

2021-11-08 05:24:53 +0000 UTCI remember my gran had a rake of those old tape cases made to make them look like books! What a weird memory to have unlocked

2021-11-07 21:35:58 +0000 UTCDid I hear the stupid stopwatch at 50 seconds into the pod? Great to hear the tour went well, I was watching fireworks being launched from planes yesterday so couldn't make it. Edit: Caught up on the watch now I've reached the end, been to Hadfield too many times because I got a car from a dealer there that turned out to be shit and had to go back to be 'fixed'.

2021-11-07 20:01:06 +0000 UTCOne of the best car shows I've been to. A very diverse selection of cars and people. I wish you the best with any future shows. P.S, the silver charger was my dad's friend, i was so jealous.
