Podcast 76 - Fiat 500e v Renault Zoe v Wacky Races
Added 2021-09-26 18:00:03 +0000 UTCRichard can't get comfy in an electric Fiat and Jonny mounts a spirited defence of a Renault tech-lift.
Also in this episode, trying to name all the Wacky Racers, not talking to anyone at the Goodwood Revival, inventing the laser pointer pipe, encountering an unprofessional racing pigeon, getting scared by the start of Octopussy, and enjoying the fantasy of living in late sixties California and working at Hanna-Barbera.
Plus, London bicycle gangs, flat tyre idiots, rat look Monaros, the Perodua Kelisa, and Jonny's barn-find Espada ownership update.

I've just found a webpage talking about the common misconception around the "Catch The Pigeon" title. One of the links from that page takes you to a post on reddit where a Romanian and a Swede also claim that in their language it was called Catch The Pigeon but when they rechecked it was Stop The Pigeon. The link is https://www.studentproblems.com/this-cartoon-is-not-called-catch-the-pigeon-and-our-minds-are-blown/

2021-10-03 15:03:45 +0000 UTCJonny I think this must be a case of the Mandela effect, I would have bet my life the theme song was Catch the Pigeon, but I've just checked YouTube and it is indeed Stop the Pigeon.

2021-09-27 14:06:51 +0000 UTCNot Hanna Barbera, but I have vivid memories of a live action kidβs show called Dr. Shrinker. The theme song was a total ear worm.

2021-09-27 12:44:42 +0000 UTCI must say the Hanna Barbera logo looks nothing like what I imagined it to despite Richardβs valiant attempt at a description

2021-09-27 11:36:01 +0000 UTCGiven that everyone was jumping on Richard for the use of superconductors, I'm surprised there haven't been more corrections of 5 star the fuel, as apposed to 4 star the slightly rubbishy tv station showing reruns of CSI.

2021-09-26 22:24:31 +0000 UTCI was born in the completely wrong era but I love wacky races, they had a brief revival in a Peugeot 208 advert in 2013, OTSOT.

2021-09-26 22:24:10 +0000 UTCI could be very wrong but I think OTSOT came from a man that Sniff had round to take down a tree or fix gutters - something like that. He said it at the end of every sentence

2021-09-26 18:48:07 +0000 UTCStop the pigeon - set in WW1 and it was a messenger pigeon that they were trying to stop. Think the pigeon was supposed to be on the good side
