Podcast 63 show notes

Hello again. This week's lead image is the WhatsApp message Jonny sent to Richard to announce that all was not well with his Lada Niva test drive. Then we have the GMC Motorhome, the 'not working' Peugeot logo, a low-spec Aussie Jimny on steelies, and two ways to spec your new 911 GT3 Touring. The brown isn't on the configurator, it seems. Finally, a couple of other images from Jonny's unexpectedly watery Lada Niva adventure.

I was listening to a completely unrelated podcast in which someone mentioned the BMW Vixen RV. Supposedly developed as competition to the GMC RV, on that side of things. Are either of you familiar with them?

Anyone else just stumbled across the Sade concert on Sky Arts and end up watching it...hoping the behind the scenes footage mooted in the program notes include a glimpse of Sade arriving in an RX-8....

Owain Kelly

Hellos. Am I the only one that thought of the early 80s Bill Murray film Stripes during this episode?

If any of you click through and don't get the joke about PM Cretien's "manual choke," that's a reference to a time when a protester easily slipped past security and confronted the PM, who then strangled him. This really happened, and Canada is totally a G7 power and not-at-all a banana republic with moose.

Brendan McAleer

Can someone please explain how we went from talking about motor homes to Jonny saying "pants down scrotal" something something, with no follow-up? 😂

If I reviewed cars, which I don’t or indeed couldn’t, that’s what would happen to me what a great shot - new car upended in a swamp 🤣

Robert Clay-parker

Yet again, like the passport incident, somewhat guilty about how entertaining your misfortune made my evening commute. Watched the video last night (waiting up for F1 to start) and the podcast dropped in time for the drive home tonight. I thank you!

Robin Capper

Dam you should have issued a spoiler alert! On the the Neva test I've been saving that! 😂

GT3 Touring looks great apart from one small detail - the loss of the 9/9 section vent on the engine cover with the “11” high-vis brake lights in the middle - the one special visual identifier on the 992.

Richard Fitton-Perkins

Have you seen the Andy Preuniger’s GT3 touring? Metallic green and the off gold decals? Can’t post a picture here but I feel it is ultimate spec. But you can’t spec it on the fantasy car builder. Seems odd.

Robin White

The rear end on that GT3 Touring makes me empathize with those weirdo's who get off on interfering with cars.

Russians: We drove the NIVA to Mount Everest's base camp. We drove the NIVA to the North Pole. Trust me comrade, nothing can stop a NIVA. Jonny Smith: Hold my GoPro!

Kristof Kiraly

Looks like a coffee spill in the footwell!

Ciaran Challis

Nothing in the last few weeks has made me laugh this much as the last bit in the vid, Jonny summarising his take on the Niva in a serious, matter-of-fact tone while standing in front of the nose-down, arse-up Niva, deep in a puddle, with its tailgate up in the air. Brilliant!

Lisa Monsterken

Hahaha that cropped WhatsApp reply says it all. Just watched the vid though, now I want to swap my 05’ jimny for a lada!
