I bloody love a Chinook, me. It's compulsory when hearing one to say "that sounds like a Chinook." Then look up, spot it and say "It IS a Chinook."

2021-06-08 20:09:45 +0000 UTCI used to live in Basingstoke, which is close to RAF Odiham, where some Chinooks are based! It would be nothing to hear them flying at low levels especially at night. Also they could give you a scare when driving along the M3 or A339 between Alton and Newbury.

In the mid to late '80s there was a trend for office blocks with lots of glass, and there was a few in Farnborough. However, a couple of Chinooks, also known as wookas, caused a few if the panels to crack. The Viggen on the other hand...
