Listening to old episodes, seems like the MX-5 was the one of 333 made for the Trilogy edition. That car was on the road until late 2014, it passed its MOT in September 2014 but the tax ran on 1/1/15 in so maybe it was wrapped around a tree by the person that bought it in June 2014. Maybe it's just hibernating...

370Z still available for sale in Oz. Not quite as cheap as in the US and looking a bit dated inside, but still a lot of car for the money - β€˜Manuel’ version of course!

Another great cast. I had a similar, less catastrophic, but somewhat scary VW camper 'lift off' moment while crossing the old Severn Bridge in the early 80's. I was with 2 cousins and as we started the crossing the roof started to lift up against the more than slightly frayed leather retention straps. One of my cousins and I suspended ourselves from the grab handles like we were on the monkey bars in the park. It must have looked a bit odd for those passing this aged VW, and in hindsight it was probably not a good idea given that had it gone, it would taken us with it. "2 14yr old boys and roof missing in freak estuary accident!", the headline was unlikely to have said.

Z cars are a good value in the States. Americans still love them and for not much more than an mx5 you get twice the fun. They have also become a go to for Drifters along with c6 Corvettes. Loved the conversation today... Rip Sabine...

We had a BX14. It was a bit of a hoot what with the raising and lowering suspension. Two of our kids learned to drive on it, and one of them finally wrote it off. To be fair to him he was the sandwich in a multiple rear end low velocity crash on a wet road after a long dry spell. The steering wheel fell to bits before it died and I replaced it with a rather tasteful Momo leather wheel which had been bought for an escort which also died at the hands of another child. When I took the BX14 to the garage for the estimate for repair and eventual disposal I went back to remove the Momo wheel just in case I ever wanted to replace another crappy steering wheel. Not long after that manufacturers started incorporating radio controls etc into steering wheels, so it never got used. Haven’t seen it for ages, could still be lurking in the loft. The Citroen was a spectacularly messy pile of plastic after its terminal event. Went quite well while it was running though.

God, Maximum Overdrive! Based on a Stephen King short story and also directed my King! I think I've heard him say on record he has zero memory of the entire production as he was coked out of his nut. Might explain a bit about the film...

What!?

The 370Z was actually launched in the Philippines in mid-2020.

Just watched Clint Eastwood in The Mule. It was passable entertainment but I’m now imagining how great it would have been watching old Clint in a Mini instead of the pick up.

Someone at my work has a 20 plate 370Z

The 370Z is still on sale in Australia at the moment. https://www.nissan.com.au/vehicles/browse-range/370z.html has a very dated infotainment which looks like the previous Maxima. My Altima 2014 has a more modern one like the current X-Trails. But anyway. I'm sure stock of 370Z is dwindling.

Here is Clint Eastwood in his Custom Count Ryman from mini forum pages https://www.theminiforum.co.uk/forums/topic/297534-mini-makes-clint-eastwoods-day/
