Podcast 48 - Starting quietly
Added 2021-03-21 19:01:01 +0000 UTCWe start this episode by paying tribute to Sabine Schmitz and Murray Walker.
Later, talk turns to a Mercedes with knackered dampers in an advert, getting injured by a SEAT Marbella, the stern warnings from parents on foreign holidays, a camper top catastrophe on the Severn Bridge, driving on the wrong side of the road disasters, the new Kia EV6 being a mullet car, Steve Backshall keeping snakes away from Bon Jovi, why the Nissan 370Z is like a Pizza Express vase of ice cream, a game of Citroen Saxo special editions, and the tricky question; would you own an Aston Martin?

Been working my way through the podcasts from the start again. The genuine emotion at the start was sad, respectful and comforting. It’s now been over a year since both left this world.

And the chat about Murray too - think most of us are from the ‘he was the voice of our childhood’ clan, such was his longevity and breadth of work. A true ‘legend’.

2021-03-22 16:05:34 +0000 UTCI'm sorry but I have to call out Jonny on the "can't fit anything in the boot" comment on the classic mini. As I demonstrated many times as a teenager the classic mini boot is exactly the same dimensions as a Marshall AS50 guitar amp. Which means with come careful planning you can get in one mini: 3 Marshall Guitar amps (boot/backseat/passenger seat), 3 Electric guitars, 1 Keyboard (inc stand) and all the associated cables. When mine got written off when someone went into the back of me on the way to a gig the amp in the boot pushed the seatback forward, the amp worked fine, which tells you all you need to know about the quality of the respective British engineering in both.

2021-03-22 00:54:48 +0000 UTCGreat podcast guys and a lovely tribute to Murray Walker and Sabine Schmitz. I remember when I first seen Sabine on top gear and she beat Jeremys time in s type diesel by almost a minute. Murray’s btcc commentary was amazing. The Nissan 350z concept/prototype was based on a Nissan 200sx s14. The prototype is in the Japan Nissan museum.
