Personally, I practice my Art with the certainty that is a beautiful, wondrous idea…
And more importantly, I look for "proof" of that next new idea.
Beautiful AND wondrous!
Often, we Realist artists chase the beauty and ignore the wonder.
By doing that, we ignore the most important half of our "job". We live in our heads and neglect our hearts. Just like the rest of the world. Powerful Art doesn’t just answer the question “What do I see in the world?”
But, “What do I want to say about it?”
Realist Figurative Art is rightly interested inthe engineering of the surface of a thing… But the poetry is what nestles deep within it!
The head truth AND the heart truth. They shouldn't have to be adversaries.
I see the Artist as uniquely positioned in life to show with our heart and our head --together, connected, in peace...
It’s what I call Heartsight.
And it seems to me, it’s sorely missing in our art and in much of our world.
I hope to live on the front line of changing that.
So, start here…
WHAT am I drawing? Absolutely do that!
But also, practice with each mark, shape, and tone a LITTLE WHY!
Intend it and soon, it's show up for you. I promise.
