Archipel | 2023

Hello everyone,

It's that time of the year. 2022 has been slightly different than usual as we've spent a lot of time planning and producing new projects, that we're looking forward to sharing more about.

Nevertheless, we've been happy to release our longer feature on alternative paths to manga, our portrait of illustrator Acky Bright or on animation director Hiroyasu Ishida, the latter being quite exciting for us to get this type of access in an animation studio. Besides Archipel, we've been supporting Keiichiro Toyama's Bokeh Game Studio for the content on their YouTube channel, that we encourage everyone to subscribe and to have a look.

As for next year. You can expect more coming out from us, here's an early look at what we can already talk about:

- Mahiro Maeda Documentary Portrait: we've already mentioned it, we're working on a portrait of the legendary artist Mahiro Maeda, whose 40-year long career in animation has gravitated between some of the top studios and names in the genre, ranging from Studio Ghibli, GAINAX to Khara, directing unique works such as Blue Submarine No. 6, Gankutsuou or more recently one segment of the latest Evangelion film.

- Kenji Eno Posthumous Documentary: Kenji Eno was a visionary game creator who we can safely say was living ahead of his time. To commemorate the 10th anniversary since his passing, we're working on a (long) documentary gathering testimonials from people who were around him at various moments of his life and works. A while in the making, we finished shooting last week, more details coming soon.

- "toco toco" Reboot: It took a while for us to decide on the right format this should take, but we are working on a toco toco successor, with one episode that we've finished shooting.

- Untitled Sports Documentary: This may sound unusual coming from us, but we've been working on a sports-themed short documentary, that we'll start editing next year. Hopefully this will mark the start of a bigger project, but again, more soon.

- Illustrator Portrait: We know our viewers enjoy our content focused on drawing artists and we're not forgetting about it. We have recently shot with a new upcoming manga artist, we will work on her portrait in the first half of the year.
