735. Star Trek: The Next Futurama 73 - Bender’s Big Score (Pt. 1)

If you forgot, this show takes a Futurama episode and thematically pairs it with an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation, which works surprisingly well. For the next few episodes of this show, we’ll be connecting the Futurama films to some Star Trek films.

This episode covers Futurama movie “Bender’s Big Score.”

This show exclusively releases every other episode here on the Small Beans patreon. Wimmy Wam Wam Wozzle!

So, in your guy's headcanon Riker is down to clown with who/whatever. Is there a person/thing/whatever that he is not, with whom, in fact, down to clown?

Tom

My head cannon for transporter rooms is that its safer if there are any complications. They do site to site transport in an emergency. I think when they do site to site they do everything the same as beaming them into the transporter room, but skip the step of materialising them on the transporter bad, they redirect them to the other destination energise > into transport buffer (in the transporter room >set destination to desired second location > materialise at second location) I also believe that the computer can handle transport under simple/ideal conditions, but when there's any kind of interference or complication it's best handled by a transporter chief kind of like the "self-driving" cars today

So the current level of machine generated content can be thought of as a tool for making demos. You can make an absolutely amazing demo in a long weekend with LLMs or the associated image gens that feels like the future, just absolutely magic. But then if you try to turn that into a finished project, that works perfectly, it's just a mountain of work for incremental progress. So any place where you can get away with half assed effort and imperfect results, it's good to go. If you want it to work perfectly, you still need to employ a human, to either edit/curate/clean up the machine start or just do it from scratch.

The plot device of the double needing to be offed is reinforced in the episode where they go far enough into the future they crush their doubles

Russell Bauman

Fantastic episode guys, really enjoyed the relaxed intro today made my drive way better. Can't wait for more.

Horsetaint is officially my metal band name. I claimed it no one can take it

Something felt missing..then I realized the questions section won't happen until like the fourth episode? Whew what a fun thing to plot out, doing these movies in your format. I bet it was tough.

It would've been so funny if this was all just loose horseshit

The reason Hulu says the movies are season 6 is that while Fox ordered 4 production seasons (and this is how they are on the dvds), they messed with the order they aired so much that there were actually 5 broadcast seasons on Fox.

So cool of you guys to own up to the doubling up mistakes. It mostly bothered me because it made me think I’d missed the episode where you explained it. They were still really good match ups.
