648. Frame Rate: Bowling for Columbine (Feat. Katy Stoll)

Nailed it, Katy. It's capitalism, spreading despair and hostility.

Antipaganda

Protect yourself and be safe, sis!

Thanks for a great conversation about an important and flawed film. Definitely borders on propaganda while - at the time in 2002 - really showing mainstream america some deep truths for the first time. Katy is brilliant without a doubt and capitalism isn't.

On Michael's point surrounding marginalized communities and firearms ownership around the 46 min mark. As a trans individual who had to flee from discrimination in rural communities to the relative safety/anonymity of a more urban setting, the LGTBQ+ community is more armed than they've ever been. Walking 3 miles home at nighy from a public school job in an incredibly reactionary community as a trans woman. Having my CCW liscence has provided a lot of security to me and my friend group. Explicitly queer events come with a designated driver who is also our designated carry. Armed protests get a much gentler hand from police, armed guards at drag events have been popping up.

Meaty episode, what a delight! I also follow Katy on Instagram for the dog pics.

Yeah, overstating your case or fudging it for effect definitely weakens your argument. I still appreciate the guy though.
