I know I'm late to this whole debate but, personally I think the mistreatment in the show is so common in kpop that if you were to boycott the show, surely you should boycott kpop as a whole if you were being morally correct, the sinophobia is not a new thing we are seeing & has gone on for years, a good example is Jun from Seventeen, although he is from hybe he still faces mistreatment for being Chinese, the only difference here is that hybe is a major, rich label that can somehow cover up most their actions. Previous contestants are just insight to how the world of kpop actually operates with no filter as mnet doesn't really have a way of silencing them. I think the topic is actually much larger than whether or not we should support mnet but is more of a question on if koreas engrained idol culture and is something we should support or not, however this isn't just Korea's fault, the music industry isn't going to change overnight & the same thing applies to western music.

Oh well, Let's go into this moral mess of watching this show: This episode and everything around it did also make me go, should I really be watching this show? And yet here I am, still continuing and being excited for the next episode. Even tho, when I think about this logically, I do come to the conclusion that I shouldn't be supporting this show. But I am also just way too invested, and even with everything going on, I am still enjoying this and looking forward to the next episodes. As you also said, me not watching this would not really change anything. Like, I think the only thing that would change is us not feeling guilty anymore that we are watching this, not that this should be good reasons to continue to watch this show. The majority of viewers boycotting would, I guess, be the only way for this endless cycle to stop. But so much has happened already and it still is being watched by so many. I am really wondering what it would need to take for the majority of viewers to not support the show or any upcoming shows and the groups anymore. Even if we get to that point it would also still be kinda unfair to the contestants because this show is a really good opportunity for lots of people. Like you also said with the Ricky case, would it have been better for him to not debut? Well we don't really know what would have happened to him if he did not, but maybe he would have had to just wait until ZB1 disbands to debut in the new Yuehua boy group and that probably would have also not been good, knowing that company. Or he would have ended up somewhere completely different, who knows? Also he would have been taken away the opportunity to debut/debut sooner and also in a really successful group at that. I guess, to get the only real answer in what would have been better, we would be needing to ask Ricky himself, but to get to B2P again: Every single contestant would probably answer differently and maybe would even answer differently only after knowing how they are being treated while being in the group or on the show. Some definitely would choose to still be in the group/show even if they knew that they would not be treated well. Like just seeing that some trainees from S1 came back kinda shows it, even though it does kinda seem to be worse this season. Ig it would also change something if no more trainees would audition for new seasons but that's just not going to happen, mostly cause it's such a good opportunity.  That also just does not change the fact that Mnet and also WakeOne should not be doing this and are also getting away with this way too easy. Like is having this opportunity for some really justifying that they are getting away with this? Not really probably. This cycle should definitely be broken at some point, I really just don't know how. Well to close this topic: I also just really don't have any clear answers to this, there probably are not even any but I will commend everyone that chooses to not watch this show. Ok, let's get into the performances, and of course they showed even less than in K. Like ist was even easier for C to show every performance where at least one of them survived and this ep also was 11 min shorter than the second episode of K, so they could have definitely shown more. Well not that I am surprised that they did it that way.  This time I will probably not really talk about performances that were not shown at all in this part, just because I don't really have anything else to add to what you already have said or I will talk about it in the second part. Chk Chk Boom - Stray kids: This was not perfect, but I do believe that the full version is definitely better. It is a little sad that all of them are gone, would have loved to see more of them. But yeah, also good for Krystian for coming out. Proud of him. Congratulations! I'll see you there tomorrow - TXT I did not really care about him at all in S1, like I totally forgot that he was in the "Home" team, but I am really liking him here. Love the black hair on him too! The comment from Jaejoong definitely was a bit weird because like it's just not true lul. If he had performed like that on the signal song, he would definitely not have been eliminated. Of course he messed up the beginning a bit, but he recovered really well and then just continued to do great. Ggum - Yeonjun: Xue Suren does seem to have good potential, looking forward to seeing more of him. Maverick - The Boyz: I for some reason am a little biased when it comes to Yi Chen even tho I have not watched Project 7. He was one of the only ones in C group tho where I have seen stuff from him even before the show started. I did also really like him from the PR video, he's definitely not perfect but I'm really interested to see more of him. Miracle - Suju: Yeah, I only got to know his controversy not too long ago too and have also not seen any apology from him. Definitely interesting how he is in 9th in the ranking but ig Geonwoo was too. Back Door - Stray Kids: Firstly, I would like to say how I really don't know how jype thought it was a good idea to debut them at such young ages. They did really good but it does seem that way that Hanyu and Zihao did not get 3 stars cause they are "not attractive enough". The comments from Jaejoong and Baek Kooyoung (Have not seen him get too much backlash tho, even tho ig his comment also was a bit different from Jaejoong's) definitely were unnecessary and disrespectful. Like I know nothing about dancing, but I doubt that weighing less actually helps to make you dance better, but they both really seem to believe it. This also is just a problem that is deeply rooted in K-pop, not that it makes it better. Stuff like that is probably said so often and even more harsh behind closed doors, while the ideal weight of kpop idols is probably just them being underweight. Also I don't think that they disbanded, they do seem to be on hiatus? Their future does seem pretty unclear, even for the members. I did love to see Hengyu jump so high in the ranking! hope he stays up there. So interested to see the new combined ranking already but also kinda scared. It was also so interesting to see the C trainees copy the dance of the signal song, also totally did not think of this possibility when watching K haha. And yes, those shirts are definitely better than the ones from K but it is pretty weird how only K got the sponsor. Looking forward to what you have to say in the second part and what your top 8s will look like :)
