Elephant Town Chapter 12 (pages 23 + 24)

I hope you'll agree that Miranda's face is a pretty realistic/appropriate reaction to Baby's First Cat Puke.

(I JUST NOW realized how far away from the chair Stromboli hurked. Good form, Stromboli!)

Thanks for being so patient on this update! If you're a patron you already know this, but I was busy making a cake and a card and wrapping presents and just generally hanging out with Luke for his birthday over the weekend, which is a federal holiday as far as I know, so I hope you all had a good Luke's Birthday as well.

This is the end of Chapter 12! Oh, and Chapter 11 is up on the Elephant Town website now! Which means we are SO CLOSE to being caught up!!

I'll write more about it next week, but the regular Monday updates here will finally be behind a paywall (just a $2 paywall, but still) starting in September, after two years of Elephant Town being posted here as public posts. If you're just following without being part of a tier, you'll want to join the $2 tier to keep reading on Mondays, or if that does't appeal to you, hang tight and you can read each chapter as it goes up on the website (every two months or so).

But, like I said, I'll get into that later.

We'll peek in on another character next Monday. I hope you've had plenty of time to think about where the boobs go. ;)

Drat, it backfired!!

Danielle Corsetto

You mean of the book? Or the cat puke? ;) The book won't be finished until around 2026! WISH ME LUCK

Danielle Corsetto

And this is why I will have wood floors in every apartment or house I ever live in as long as I have cats or dogs.

Chris Kalin

I absolutely love that Miranda's reaction to cat puke is to fully commit to cat parenting.

Lisa

I love how gross and real this is without actually showing cat puke. XD She CAN take care of a kitty!!

Amy Crook

The one time I was present for a hairball birth, I tried to shove a sheet of cardboard or other underneath her, but she adamantly refused to put it on anything but floor

Minzoku Bokumetsu

Those restaurant skills just took right over. So in love with the, "sorry, mama," look in the last panel. No sweat, Miranda. You've got this.

Ruth Merriam

That little "lick" to decide if the puking's done for now is disgustingly on point!

Theadora

Oh my goodness, that last panel is so beautiful! It feels like she's talking both to Stromboli and to herself <3 What a lovely moment!

Katie McMahon

I am surprised that Stromboli didn’t find a carpet to puke on like my cats do. Maybe the cat is easing Miranda into the world of cat parenting..

Steve Boyko

Strong adulting skills, Miranda! (One tiny note? "Puking all over the floor and then acting like nothing happened, so it's up to you to clean the mess" is part of the package with a dog or cat. But if a roommate does it you need draw a hard line there.

Andy Ihnatko

Since your last behind-the-scenes kitchen redesign post I find myself obsessively counting cabinets in the background...

Bori Vekony

Love this. So pleased Stromboli is getting a home. (Not that I'd expected any other resolution!)

Lesley Mitchell

Stromboli seems fairly longhaired, so I imagine this is first of many, many hairballs to come. BTW I've really warmed up to Stromboli as the cat's name despite how it was imposed. Also, I forget, do we know if Stromboli is a boy or girl?

I love this! When can we buy physical copies?
