Monday Elephant Town update

We love a smiling Miranda. :)

Happy Sunday! Due to a couple of weird circumstances, my Monday update is a little different than usual; I planned to only bring my iPad to Toronto this week, so I knew I wouldn’t have my pens/paper to make complete pages for you this time, but we were unexpectedly locked out of the studio this weekend, which is where my laptop (Photoshop!) is, so I have an even jankier update for you: the digital pencils for pages 7 & 8, and a sneak peek at page 8:

Hopefully you’ll enjoy seeing these magically become 3-4 finished pages next Monday!

I’m sending it now because the TCAF hotel WiFi hasn’t been letting anyone connect, and I want to make sure you have something for tomorrow. :) Luckily, I pre-loaded Chapter 2 to the Elephant Town website, so that should automatically update around 10 pm eastern tonight. (That link will take you to the archive page, so you can skip straight to the chapter you want to read. We’re working on a new landing page with first chapter/chapter archive/most recent chapter options upfront.)

I’ll be on the road all day tomorrow to come home, so if you see anything broken on the website, feel free to holler to me via Patreon comment here, or email, and I’ll get to it when I’m settled in Tuesday!

Happy Father’s Day to you dads and dad-like people out there!

Oh no worries; I can't have wheat and I don't drink coffee! So you did it perfectly right! Just read your little minis over dinner, they were very sweet! <3

Ah no worries, if I'd been more organized I would have welcomed you properly - with some timbits and a doubledouble! 😂 hope you enjoyed your trip!

I LOVE the buying-the-kitchen-beers story. :)

Yesss yess yessssss

Danielle Corsetto

You too, it was too quick!! But I'm glad we committed to hanging out so that it actually happened! <3

Danielle Corsetto

You too!! Thank you so much for making the effort to come by the studio, that was so sweet! I can't wait to find time to look at the minis you gave me. :)

Thank you so much, Joanna! I had a bit of a bumpy day (I should've been home by now, but I'm leaving tomorrow instead) and only had time to send out a newsletter. I'm really glad to see Paul make an impression; I put a lot of work into trying to get him right. <3

I know this isn't exactly the right place for the comment, but your announcement about chapter two of Elephant Town doesn't seem to have a related Patreon post, so here I plop it: I just read through chapter two again on the website, all together as intended, and there are tears in my eyes for Paul. You've put so much time and concern into making him real and believable and sad. I just want to offer him a big hug. (I'm sure that wouldn't go well, but I'd be willing to try anyway). Now if only we can get him to go from confiding in jerks online to confiding in a good therapist, he could make some real headway!

I love seeing process pages, post them anytime you get the urge!!! Also it was a real treat to meet you irl at RAID and TCAF, I hope you enjoyed your visit despite the wifi issues and low-key-pandemic vibe at the festival 😊

Ohhh it's interesting to see the placeholders for dialogues and everything! Thanks for that! Safe travels, it was so nice hanging out with you at TCAF <3

I wish we would move away from tipping and having that just be in their wage (and tips have moved to all kinds of jobs, where they didn't use to be), but stiffing wait staff is the worst. - - Neal

My former boss said his first job out of the army was as a dishwasher, and one day someone came in the back and bought beers for the entire crew. So, on occasion, he will not only tip well, but also buy beers for the hard working staff in the back. My daughter also paid part of her way through university by working in the back washing dishes, and such. It is a hard life, and people are not paid enough. I worked in the service sector, as well, to get through college. The general public is horrid.

IKR!? I learned that lesson early: there's really no such thing as over-tipping. (And when I can, I do a regular tip on the receipt and leave more in cash, in an effort to let folks report what seems sensible to them.) If I do leave only a cash tip, I write "on table" on the tip line, so they know they weren't stiffed. Dog bless waitstaff! <3

people can be so cruel to those in the service sector. Sheesh.
