Elephant Town Chapter 8 pages 10-11

Miranda gettin real lost in her teacup again.

It's funny, I thought coloring all those little plants was going to be the timesuck on these pages, but it was mostly doing the first panel - with Miranda's finger "plunk"ing into the teacup - traditionally that was so difficult! I bet there are liquifying filters you could apply digitally to get those watery effects, but trying to follow the concentric circles while retaining the shapes of the items and patterns behind it with a brush pen was really tricky!

Anyway. I hope you enjoy these weird pages as much as I enjoyed inking them (my favorite part!). <3

Oh! And credit where it's due: the "plunk" in the first panel (to connect it to the "plunk" in the last update) was Luke's clever idea. :)

Danielle, I can't get over the artwork plus the colors and the absolute and clear emotions that you are conveying in ET. I love the colors behind each person we're following and the overlaps that are slowly being revealed. It's beautiful and evocative in so many ways, and I can't way to see more.

Ooh! Dan, thank you. :)

I've always enjoyed your work, Danielle, but this new project, it really shows you and your skills off wonderfully.

Gods, Danielle. I'm pretty much picking my jaw up off of the floor over these. The subtle hues, the deep tones, that perfectly nailed sense of surreality. I hope a knock on the door isn't going to yank Miranda out of her deep dive.

Ruth Merriam

The eyes! Are they Miranda's eyes? The cat's eyes? Mystery eyes?? I'm so intrigued!!

Cat McAteer

Really stunningly beautiful pages!

Julia, thank you for taking the time to write this. :) Patreon is so easy to be quiet on, I don't blame anyone for silently following along! But boy is it a treat when someone is moved to remind me that I'm not just making these for myself. ;) Thank you for enjoying what I make, and then telling me about it. :)

The water effect was terrific, great work, well done!

W o w. Those pages are fantastic. And you nailed the water effect like it was nothing!

i have been a long time follower. but silent. so silent. i see now a good time to speak: your lines being my life such joy, Danielle. they being together some semblance of contained meaning in ways that my brain both craves and needs. thank you for all your continued hard work, and for providing my mind a well-needed distraction through the artistic portrayal of the dream world. yours truly, a psychotherapist who craves your art for a mental vacation ๐Ÿ˜
