Mother's Day (a dumb comic)

How many other people only clean their house when houseguests come over and are cultivating year-old cobweb camps along their ceilings?

On the bright side, my house is clean and I got to celebrate my excellent mom with my family all day. Happy Mother's Day to all you moms out there!

Because of... well, all of that and a little sangria, I'll be finishing up Monday's Elephant Town update tomorrow. It's only two pages, but holy smokes that second page is gonna be a bruiser! ($5 patrons, I'll show you what I mean in a bit!) Thanks for your patience! I hope this dumb comic makes up for the wait. :p

I had to properly meme this, obviously:

Mother's Day (a dumb comic) Mother's Day (a dumb comic) Mother's Day (a dumb comic) Mother's Day (a dumb comic) Mother's Day (a dumb comic) Mother's Day (a dumb comic) Mother's Day (a dumb comic)

Got it! Yes, you caught the expressions well! And thanks! The kitchen is working its way there! And we're vaccinated, it's just the *OMG PEOPLE* thing. :-) (like we're partially-feral cats or something... ๐Ÿ˜…)

It hadn't occurred to me that not everyone knows what meme I was basing this on! I copied her expressions best I could. :) https://boingboing.net/2016/11/08/heres-the-unexpected-origin.html (And boooo, I hope the kitchen sitch got straightened out, literally!)

I love the cleaning=complicated math visuals and the way your eyes flicker back and forth! Really cements that feeling of growing dread and panic! (and sympathies, by the way; we had to have kitchen remodeling where a leak in the roof messed up some cabinets; the cleaning went WAY beyond the kitchen in the freak-out!)

The cobwebs in that last 'thinking' panel is perfect

Someone I used to know was fond of saying, "The best way to clean your house is to invite 20 people over. " Meaning, of course, that you'd panic clean like a whirlwind prior to your party.

Aww happy Mother's Day, Ruth! Sounds like your kid knew how to treat you, especially by loosening all dress codes. :)

Was that your equation for a vinegar based cleaning solution? We went to my son and d-i-l's and had the most wonderful "brunch for dinner" that my son cooked, including Mimosas (with Prosecco because my son is smart). He even made a fresh blueberry clafoutis for dessert. I felt totally spoiled and loved, and it felt very weird to have the shoe on the other foot. Also, I went in pj pants and a Godzilla/Mothra hoodie like a boss.

Went to my sister's for Mother's Day gathering of vaxxed family, instead it was like "wait, I guess I should wear real clothes. But, how do these outfits work again??"

haha, we had a couple of fully vaccinated friends over last weekend and had the similar "...oh i guess we need to clean" combined with "oh dang, one of them is allergic to cats, I guess curtains are also getting washed, hope we still have anti-allergen spray"

Sheri Spangenberg

I deeply relate to this.

We're still in lockdown.. I don't have to worry about that .... yet. AIEEEE! :)

Ahahaha, that was us this weekend, cleaning all the things in preparation for a family visit soon. The house needed it, and I'd like to think we'd have gotten around to the scrubbing eventually, but the visit sure provided the motivation!

Ohhhhhh yeah. I usually earn about a B/B+ on my weekly housekeeping. I raise my grade by a half or a whole letter in the two weeks before entertaining guests. I lost half a grade every couple of months during the pandemic...

Andy Ihnatko

Haha yeah I always say it's good when people visit, because I actually get around to cleaning. I much prefer it cleaned, but it's just so much effort when it will just get dirty again. :P

Allergies naturally limit my cobweb supply.

"cob webs". Yes, yes. That is what the house looks like. Definitely not like a life after people set
