DnD Creature Watercolor Paintings!

Hey, happy Monday! Since I spent the last week catching up on non-Elephant Town projects, I figured I'd share these little DnD watercolors I never got around to showing you. :)

I got Luke all three DnD 5.0 books for Christmas so he could start his own campaign with his childhood friends, but I felt like it needed a personal touch, so I went through the Monster Manual and picked out some funky creatures to paint, with the intent of giving him something to search for while reading.

Let's see if I can remember the names of 'em, it's been awhile. I know this sucker's a Flumph.

And this guy's called (I definitely had to look up these next two because *I* forgot) a Magmin.

It only seemed natural that he'd be a cackling pyromaniac.

This little prick's called a Stirge, which I believe is like... if a bat and a mosquito had a bebby. So, a relatively cute mosquito. Relative to a regular mosquito, I mean.

I started two others, but as with most of my handmade Christmas gifts, I publicly underpromised, privately overestimated, and delivered just the right amount of goodies to be considered Above And Beyond (he was only expecting the books, after all).

If you can tell what these two unfinished paintings were gonna be, guess away!

Hint: yellow dude on the left is saying "Come. Meld with me, bruh."

Since we're on the DnD topic, here's my Swamp Genasi Druid character Glorpa, whom I'll be be playing in an upcoming campaign that you can watch on Twitch (details to come)!

If you're in the $5 tier, you've already met Glorpa & seen the process shots.

Btw, the process shots of the watercolors are the kind of thing I usually share with my $5 patrons, in case you like that kind of thing and aren't already in that tier! That's also where I share all my figure drawings. All other tiers get a curated selection of my finished art, so if you see a piece of finished art from me and aren't in the $5 tier, I've probably shared the process shots in that tier if you're interested!

Speaking of which, you'll see more curated finished art in the near future... and maybe a dumb comic about my cats. :3

Ooh nice! I think you're in good company; a lot of people started campaigns last year. ;)

These are great! I've also been on a DnD bender. My next album will be called Mages, and I've already released the title track as a single. I've got another single lined up called Dungeons and I just finished a track called Rogues.

Wizards of the Coast would be leaving money on the table if they don't hire you to illustrate the next edition of the Monstrous Manual!

Dean Reilly

Ahh I love them all so much! But especially the flumph!

Joanna

Great job on these, bringing back many fond high school/college memories! Those stirges may look cute, but they are a pain in the ass to fight, let me tell you...

<3 Glorpa!

Hugh Eckert

Well done. And Yes please, to a comic about your cats. :D

Hebus von Troy (Bernd)

Is it wrong how much I love that Magmin? Like, I really love them so much in that picture. He's a mischievous child.

NJGR

Oh wild! If any DnD creature was gonna exist in the MLP world, yeah, I'd vote Flumphs.

Danielle Corsetto

Bingo!! Thank you both for naming these creatures for me so I don't have to scour the manual again!

Danielle Corsetto

Oh, and for extra weird points, the official licensed My Little Pony TTRPG has stats for Flumphs.

Dave Van Domelen

Okay, I guessed right on Mycomid. And the other guy is a Xorn, IIRC.

Dave Van Domelen

Yeah, that's the one! (Hah, I had to look it up myself!!) And THANK YEW, I was mighty proud of my plan. He's a minimalist who lives in a two-room house (not two-bedroom, two rooms total), so he's hard to pick gifts for!

Danielle Corsetto

These are lovely! Is that mellow mushroom a myconid? I’m impressed by your gifting strategy!
