Elephant Town Chapter 5 (pages 8-11)

Welcome to Elephant Town, the comic that spends two pages reminding you how annoying it is when the internet won't work.

(Everyone has one of these giant boxes full of wires and tech stuff, right?)

In case you're scratching your head about why Kris is dreaming of curtains and shuddering at the thought of a silhouette behind a window, here's a link to some of her old pages that might help jog your memory!  It's from way back in MAY, which in 2020 years is about a decade.

This story is gonna be SO much easier to follow when it's printed in a book!

Thank you! (Based on a true story, the story of me keeping every twist-tie that enters my home.)

The cables in that box are so NEAT, I'm jealous

Hazirah

Slightly late to the party, but... three boxes, two large plastic bags, a drawer, and various other places :D But I did actually manage to get rid of all the analog landline stuff a couple years back (at least one big box), I haven't had a landline telephone connection for 17 years now :-P

Janne Peltonen

Came here to say this.

Melody

mostly saying bc I CAN'T forget that scene =o even if 2020 has lasted five centuries

The curtains were the FIRST thing I worried about when we moved into our new house, since the prior owners took them all (even the curtain rods!!). Luckily, we got in the habit of moving over the course of a month-ish rather than all at once, since we haven't moved more than a city or two away, so we could manage things like that. Took a few attempts to find rods and curtains we liked, but it was worth it! My spouse still calls them blinds, though (???)

Oh, I thought the man had actually followed her to her yoga studio! I have to re-read these pages now that I know it's not supposed to be a thriller...

Maura W

Just the one, but I periodically purge it of cables that no longer go to anything.

Dan Wilson

Several boxes. Plus various stuff that's escaped them and gone rogue.

Hugh Eckert

Waiting for enLIGHTenment.

> (Everyone has one of these giant boxes full of wires and tech stuff, right?) "One"? You're cute...

I don't know about everyone, but I certainly have such a box! Oh, and I've got a database -- ok, spreadsheet -- of all the wall warts.

Trebuchet

I have a box for each cable type (network, usb, video, disk, async, everything else) and one or two for adapters. (And another two for random wall warts.)

kaitou

I've got an old Rubbermaid tub with cables and power cords and such. However, whenever I need a specific thing it's rare that I actually find it! Must be tech gremlins. Or my cat.

Katie McMahon

One of those boxes? No, I think I have at least three.
