Hey gang! Miranda's chapter is coming up next, and I decided to give myself an extra week to work on it. So, no update this Monday; we'll start Chapter 4 on October 5th.
Originally I pictured Miranda's chapters being 100% traditional, painted in watercolor and gouache, but I know that a) would take me way too long (fewer pages each week) and b) would feel out of place with the rest of the comic. So I'm playing with other approaches that meet halfway between painting and digitally coloring, and will work on her first few pages next week.
This past week I've been busy with a spectacle of other little things. As you know, I like lists, so, here's a list!
I'll share the caricature comic with all paying patrons (gotta keep that one behind a paywall!) and maybe some sneak peeks of the ET website with my $5 patrons, if I have anything worth sharing!
As for the bench, here's what happened:

Remember the cool glow-in-the-dark paint I used? Well, it never dried, so it started bubbling up IMMEDIATELY when it was put in the sun. Adios, glow-in-the-dark paint, you were cool in concept!

I decided to swap it out for an equally "cool" concept: a ghost coming from an elephant's mouth.

So now I have an elephant that looks like it's smoking drugs, not a ghost-breathing elephant. Woops!

I added a cute lil elephant ghost, peepin' over the trees at the ghost tour group, to get the idea across that maaaaaybe it's a ghost instead of drugs:

This bench got weird.
Anyway, it's done, and I learned a lot about acrylic! For example: that I prefer watercolor.
I also learned that elephants are hard to draw!! Give me a horse any day of the week.
I'm up at my parents' house in Deep Creek with Luke for a working weekend. This was his idea, and probably the only way to get me to leave Shepherdstown: by calling it a "working weekend."

Binders full of reference for Elephant Town that I need to update and organize... my iPad with those sketches of crocuses and an alleyway so I can practice coloring methods... and this very update that I'm about to post.
You'll see more soon. :) Logging off from the wifi now. Have a good weekend, patrons!
