It's no secret that I throw a pretty serious Halloween every year. This year we threw a blacklight party and I wanted my costume to glow, so a skeleton in a fluorescent bikini was the obvious answer.
I could've paid $40 for a black bodysuit with a skeleton already printed on it, but instead I paid $20 for a black bodysuit and $4 for a yard and a half of white felt, and cut out + hot glued a bunch of bones onto my body. Luke and I kind of have an unspoken no-premade-costumes rule!
(Coincidentally, my friend brought her friend Danielle - who was ALSO dressed up as a skeleton, but had the pre-printed bodysuit. It looked awesome, but it didn't glow up as much in the blacklight, so I'm glad I handmade mine!)
Luke's costume involved a handmade papier-mâché (his medium of choice) monster mask that he came up with, and 500 inches of black crepe paper. He bought some blacklight-reactive paint for the mouth & eyes and he practically lit up the room!
Ryan's costume was... his true self.
I figured I should share my process here, since it took up most of last week (along with party prep) and kept me from doing as many building studies as I'd wanted to do.
Now that the party and the costumes are finished, we will resume your regularly scheduled Patreon posts starting tonight. :)
