The Complete GWS Hardcover Collection!!

Hey, friends and loyal patrons!! If you're on the GWS mailing list, you may have just received a big excited heads-up about the Kickstarter we're launching next week for the final, much-anticipated Complete Girls With Slingshots collection!!

I'll make a bigger announcement (and a direct link) once the page launches, to remind you! IT IS GOING TO BE SO PRETTY.

Also, I'll be at SPX this weekend!! I'll be sitting right between Jess Fink and TopatoCo, at table W29.

Alright, that's it for now! I've gotta go pick up fellow SPXer Lucy Bellwood, whom you probably already know and might even be backing on Patreon! (You should, she's the best.)

Yeah...Comic Con was better for indie creators, but they couldn't compete with the Superhero convention style Expo, apparently. You come anywhere near here and I'll be coming to visit with lots of cat pictures!

Christian Brown

Woof, the exhibitor page alone is pretty awful... unfortunately, I don't think I'd do very well at that show. But thank you for bringing it up! With any luck these books will force me to do a lot more traveling next year, so I may show up at a show near you at some point. :)

Danielle Corsetto

I only follow a handful of web cartoonists (most of them seem to be your friends), but I'm not sure about coming to Cincinnati. Randy Milholland might have come out once or so, but I'll share the links and you can see the artists who are attending this year: http://cincinnaticomicexpo.com/ is the link for this weekend's show (the bigger convention style show) and forget about Cincinnati Comic Con. I just read it closed down this past year. Most of the comic writers in there have moved to Comic Expo.

Christian Brown

I haven't done an Ohio show in a long time! I have to cut a lot of shows that aren't overwhelming in some manner (it can be in revenue - which I hate, but I have to consider - or in just sheer number of readers who are happy I'm there), but I'll often try a new show if I start to see my peers talking highly of it, so I'll keep my ears open! Unfortunately, a great show for mainstream comics doesn't always = a great show for an indie webcomic artist, so I have to do my homework and be kinda picky. Do you know if other webcartoonists attend the Cincinnati one?

Danielle Corsetto

BTW, have you ever considered coming out to Cincinnati for our Comic Expo or Comic Con? They've been around for a while now and are getting fairly big in the Midwest. (not Gencon big, but not bad)

Christian Brown

You sound like my brain right now. :p We're tweaking things; it'll be up tonight!! Don't worry, I'll be making a huge to-do about it, so you won't be able to miss it. :)

Danielle Corsetto

Is it up yet?!

*DIES OF FLATTERY*

Danielle Corsetto

Maybe nestled between Calvin & Hobbes and Cul de Sac...? 😀

NJGR

Omg, in a heartbeat!!

Danielle Corsetto

lol...if I still lived closer to WV, I'd push for a play date for the kids!

Christian Brown

THAT IS ONE HECK OF A COMPLIMENT <3

Danielle Corsetto

WOOHOO!! It'll be in a few hours, possibly less possibly more - depends on how much tweaking we finish soon!! :D

Danielle Corsetto

Dude this is CRAZY, you have a nearly-identical story to mine!! If I wasn't home all day, I might've looked for a new place for him to live, somewhere more fun. Also, those are equally wonderful names for your cats. :)

Danielle Corsetto

Never mind! I just saw Spike's email notification about the time, so I'm good. :)

NJGR

They'll look lovely next to my Calvin and Hobbes set 😍

Arden

Hooray! Do you have an estimated time that it'll go live? I'd like to keep an eye out for it, but I'll be at work all day. :( I can't wait to see these in person! -Jessica

NJGR

Ooooh I gotta have this. Can't wait!!!

Richard Harrison

Fantastic! Look forward to Monday!

Zach

I can't wait to back this :).

Chris Driggers

Now I'm glad I never got all the volumes in paperback. Good reason to pick these up!

Bryan Freehan

My next move will be way simpler than my last one, ten years ago. "The iPad is in my backpack, the file server is on the front seat of the car...okay! All of my books, music, comics, and movies are packed!"

Andy Ihnatko

I have the same problem. I have an old man named Roman who is 12 who grew up with a brother who left us a little over a year ago (the kitty in my profile pic). We introduced a kitten (Max) because we didn't want Roman to be alone (He was showing stress signs of loneliness). Unfortunately, I think it was difficult for the same reasons. I think their age difference was just a bit too far apart. Max wants to snuggle and play with his older brother and his older brother is like, dude, get the hell away from me and stay off my lawn. I think when Roman passes on (not for another 10 years dammit), it will be easier to introduce a kitten to Max. That said, we make sure Roman gets plenty of love and Max gets plenty of playtime...it helps that I am home all day to make sure neither of them feels too lonely. (I love the names of your kids, btw)

Christian Brown

Oooooh! Andy, thanks. :) I no longer buy new books if I can help it, as I have too many, so I completely understand how complimentary this is. <3

Danielle Corsetto

It's actually progressing surprisingly well. Very little hissing, they share the same bed for naps with no problem. I just feel bad for both of them because, well, he's a kitten and he desperately wants to play, and she's 10 and just wants to chill out. Ellie and Pip, by the way! Ellie's my sweet old lady. :)

Danielle Corsetto

YES!! I can't wait to back this!!

I love the books, but I have a more pressing question. I see in your drawing that your older cat (forgive me, I can't recall their names at present) is staring daggers at the kitten. Are they still wary of each other and what is the age difference?

Christian Brown

Over the course of my life, I've gone from having a room filled with nothing but shelves to handle all of my books to just having a few bookcases, mostly for dead treeware that is (a) ultra-favorite and (b) not available digitally. Today the highest compliment I can give a creator is to say "I want the print edition, too." I can't back this collection fast enough...it'll go on a shelf above or below my Fantagraphics "Peanuts" volumes. I can't imagine your sense of pride as you put this book together. GWS is one HELL of an achievement.

Andy Ihnatko

Yay! Count me in, then... :) But to be honest - the most digital comics I buy (from Image Comics, to be exact) are 1:1 digital versions of the PDFs that get sent to the printer at just a bit lower resolution and ZIP archives with a JPG per each printed page; I'm pretty sure you'll be making those anyway...

Leak

YES, definitely!! You can thank Spike at Iron Circus for that; I don't know how to eBook anything myself. :p

Danielle Corsetto

Any chance for a PDF tier? I have all the softcovers and have almost totally stopped buying physical comics due to having my room almost flooded twice in a matter of years, but I wouldn't mind having a digital hi-res version of the comics...
