Backgrounds

Alright, let's get a first exclusive post going for you guys. Today I'll be discussing backgrounds.

First of all, I should note that I'm terrible at making backgrounds for my normal artworks. I freehanded all of the backgrounds seen in the demo's CG scenes and I think it shows. So, for the standard scenes, I want to do something different.

For this, I'm going to be using reference for backgrounds. I've prepared two examples of how I could go about doing this.

Here is the lobby of HFIL that I've built in Blender, around the start of December, according to Blender itself. I worked on this nearly every day for a week, and this is all I have to show for it. I mentioned on Twitter that I have some experience with using Blender, but I am by no means an expert. So that limits a bit of what I'm able to do.

And here is HFIL's lobby recreated in the Sims 4. This only took me about a day, but you can spot some differences between the two. 

So here's the thing. Blender builds take far longer to make, but it allows me to make whatever I want in terms of furnishings and layout. The Sims lets me block out things really fast, but I'm restricted by the availability of the in-game items.

Here are my thoughts. I can do a quick 'sketch' in the Sims and then try to recreate it in Blender. Or, I could just try to freehand everything. I'll let you guys share your thoughts or any suggestions you might have, I'm all ears.
