I know there were *opinions* on this album but for me, it just boiled down to it was clearly meant to be a mainstream hip-hop album that a wide variety of people could casually listen to. The production kept me intrigued most, and the lyrics were just straight forward and simple to follow. Overall, I don't think I was as bothered by this album as some people, but I think it's because I don't know his other music. But also, I just accepted early on while listening what type of album it was, and went along for the ride. Like, the lyrical context and his rapping delivery showed me pretty quickly it wasn't necessarily going for "art" but more so commercial. It is what it is!
