Last week had quite the interruption as the adult gaming world was flipped upside down and thrust into the spotlight due to censorship. I'll make another post about that soon, but let's try and put that to rest and focus on development for the time being. I was able to get this update planned and started, with some work on back end code for the minigame, some major changes for the GUI in anticipation of it's overhaul, and also some progress toward the animations for this update. I also created a new wallpaper featuring Zoey which you all can see in the teaser for today's post. You can download that in 4k in both PNG and JPG formats and also in various states of dress from the wallpapers folder here.
I want to get into a little more detail about some of the code changes I'm making to the minigame in anticipation of the card game rework. The minigame is receiving some fundamental changes to how it operates which I'll go ahead and list now:
Lust will only go from 0-100. At 100 the minigame ends and the player is rewarded bonus money, stats, and perk points for maxing lust.
Arousal level will determine which actions can be used and will scale from 0-10. Actions which require more arousal will provide significantly more lust but will also increase pleasure a little more. Every action performed will increase arousal by 1, so all actions will be usable after 10 turns.
Pleasure remains unchanged in pretty much every way. Edging still works as it did, and reaching max pleasure without edging charges causes the minigame to end in the bad way.
Perk points, money, and experience will be calculated based on how high lust was at the end of the game, with the highest being awarded at the highest levels of lust.
I'll be adding a story mode, where all girls have maxed stats, perks, 10000 subscribers, and money resets to $100k at the end of every day. I'll also have a skip minigame button that players can press if they've selected this difficulty. Story events that require certain actions to be performed during the minigame will have that requirement waived on this difficulty.
These changes should make the minigame a little more straightforward and give the player a solid goal to achieve with every video. And some people want to enjoy Harmony Girls but only enjoy visual novels, which is why I'll be adding a story mode where the player will never have to play the video making minigame if they don't want to. Keep in mind that some animations are only viewable from the minigame and that will not be changing.
Finally, I want to talk about the UI a little bit. There are some screens that I felt needed to change before the UI overhaul so that my artist has a better idea of what information will be presented to the player in these screens. The main screen I'm changing is the minigame results screen, along with the minigame UI to represent the new changes I've made. The end of the minigame is something I've messed around with in the past and I haven't been happy with. The new results screen will be part of the fix for this as it will now include a lot more information and should make things clear and transparent to the player.
