Dear Patrons,
I'm sending you a warm "Bonjour!" from my french countryside.
Did you know we already are a group of 355 people at the moment ? You have to know : I was not expecting that AT ALL.
Of course, I hoped a few people would come, but not so many in barely 2 days. This Patreon was launched on Saturday the 10th, and all 3 Tiers found their audience so quickly.
Need I say how grateful I am! Alex and I have been working on this project for a good whole year, looking for printers, concepts, wondering how we could make all Tiers appealing and satisfying, working on costs projections, ordering prototypes, exploring cards designs...
It is not a side project for me : it is a real reconsideration of what I want now as an illustrator with a 17 years career behind me. If you've been following me on social networks, you know I'm on the reserved side : more often than not, I'll post my new illustrations, answer some comments and go back to my cave. Well, on any other platforms than here, this won't really change, to be honest!
But I also wanted to create this Patreon in order to bring something new to my habits : there will be the tokens, first and foremost of course. But I will also share more behind the scenes with you Patrons only : how we work on these tokens, drawing videos, insights into the tokens' illustrations, and more! We already have lots of ideas, and I'm sure more will come as time goes by, and inspired by you!
Also, it will be easier (and probably more relaxing) for me to interact with you here. With the audience growing, it became close to impossible for me to see and reply to everything as I'd like to. Also, I'm not always at ease on social medias, as I believe in more kindness than what we often have to deal with out there. I'd like this place to bring a good and simple experience to everyone.
Supporting artists have always been a soft and pacific form of militancy : it means you're aware of someone else's work value, and of art's place and role in everyday life.
Supporting artists these days is also taking a whole new meaning : it means you believe that there has to be a fellow human's brain and hand at work even in your hobbies, or on your walls. It is a matter of respect towards you, above all : an illustrator should work hard to deserve some interest and support.
It's a barter, and it must be fair.
That's also why you'll often see and hear me say "thank you". Aside from producing as pretty images as possible to make you happy, and make your decks look nice, I'm never taking your interest for granted.
No audience, no illustrator. And today more than ever.
Magali
