A Full Section from my Upcoming Video

Hey everyone! While I continue working on my upcoming video about the making of MuseScore 4, I thought I'd share the full 'engraving' section, which demonstrates many of the improvements we worked on to make our notation as beautiful and legible as any competitor out there.

We'll be quite a bit in front of both Sibelius and Finale once this release is out!

Some among you may notice a few minor engraving issues with scores displayed in some of the footage. I'll clear these up for the final video. Feel free to call them out anyway, in case I missed any!

Other comments would be appreciated too. This is without doubt the only part of the video that might be a little obscure for those who don't read music. The rest is much more accessible by comparison. I promise!

I had actually earmarked that one for a re-record a few weeks ago!

Every other sentence I was thinking "This is gonna fix so many issues in my scores!" I cannot wait for version 4 to be out, and to import all my old scores and watch them be beautiful. One bit of feedback: in the bit on ties, you said that in version 4, the ties no longer intersect staff lines. Maybe I'm just picky because I just sat a geometry exam, but the ties still intersect the staff lines. However, they don't *touch* any staff lines any more (aka are tangent to them), which was the visual issue. The crossings are very clean visually. Even though I guess it's not worth re-recording audio for that little bit, and the issue is communicated clearly as is.

I did the animations. It was a complete pain - especially for score comparisons, like the one for Tuplets. In that case, I had to open a PDF in Illustrator and export every single element as layers for After Effects. The setup took longer the the animation itself.

Wow, the animation is top notch! Do you work with an animator or did you do it all by yourself? Having dabblet a bit in AE-Animation myself, it seems like a scary amount of work to get the animation that smooth and beautiful...
