Orchestral piece for upcoming video with David Bruce, Adam Neely, Ben Levin & Bec Plexus
Added 2019-09-24 15:03:05 +0000 UTCYou may have seen David Bruce's video '5 Composers, 1 Theme' a few months ago. Well, we're doing it again, only this time, we're writing for orchestra.
The idea behind our pieces was that David assigned each of us a motive based on the number of syllables in our name. Mine ending up sounding a bit like a fanfare (Tan-ta-crul!), so I made something that sounded a little bit like a bombastic superhero theme.
Attached the main score below. The midi was produced using NotePerformer. We'll be recording the real thing October 10.
15 minute rehearsals each. Super super tight.

I've also not been taking too many chances with orchestration and have stuck to what generally works. That said the orchestral numbers are a bit off kilter. There's a large brass section and a decent wind section but bugger all strings: only 5 Violin I & 5 Violin II.

2019-09-26 18:32:46 +0000 UTCHonestly, I have no idea what to expect here. They got in contact with DB to express interest in the idea of doing this. The conductor has two o our scores already (David's and mine), so hopefully she'll have those down a little bit. The parts have been printed so I hope the musicians will give it a once over beforehand. They might not though. This is one of the reasons my piece is quite easy. There are no taxing parts and no time signature changes.
