Thank you for taking the time to answer! I love your loreposting, it’s so much fun to learn about the little details, they really make the world seem more alive and fleshed out! That makes sense that they can be recharged, I imagine they’d have a decent amount of practical uses for like, insomnia or relaxation and such Even though my first thought was earrings that make you drowsier the more you jostle them while moving haha

Magic likes to pool, it's somewhat like a liquid. The plant takes the magic in its surroundings and concentrates it into the bell-like anthers. The bells, being of the plant, are able to keep the magic inside of them with little escaping, and any lost magic is quickly restored by the plant as long as they are still attached. Break open the bell, and the bead's magic flows back into the world and the cycle continues. Making them into items is possible, but if expended they would require recharging by anyone with a decent grasp of magic. But that's common knowledge. A slumber lily bell anther, even expended of magic is still useful because the magical effect is built/grown into the bell. Giving the bead a little mana makes it as good as new. The 1-2 year storage time is just how long before the magic that was inside the bell seeps out naturally if kept in a non-specialized container. (Thank you for spending the time to be invested I'm my worldbuilding, it's still pretty jank and things might change depending on what I need to make the plot happen, but I'm trying my best lol.)

What starts the beads losing their magic? Does it automatically start diminishing when separated from a live plant, or could whole/undamaged anthers be used to make jewelry/items? Like earrings or windchimes or stuff like that

Probably bitter and would numb your tongue a little.

Real question, what would they taste like in a stew?
